Funnily enough I think "Under the Coke Sign" is a more evocative track - though that is not to deny the power of "Heard from Telegraph Lines"

As a kid I grew up with a lot of the classic 70s pop songs, with the "oldies" played all day on BBC Radio 1. My older brothers played Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Mike Oldfield, Neil Young etc on the turntable when my dad was away at work (I also had an education on the Beatles). The UK was a pop music ...

On Pete Standing Alone, the sound a tape recorder makes recording itself (when you press the record button) around 1:10.

That run is also reversed at one point on Oscar, isn't it? (plays it again) Yes, at 0:49, and 1:56, but slightly differently - so it sounds to me like they were recorded live.

I am 46 (born in 1967, at the arse-end of the Summer of Love) so not quite the oldest here but I don't suppose I'm far off it.

Still, I'm less than three years older than Mike.

Some excellent choices already...

Lots to mention - each of these produces a strong emotional response from me for various reasons, often nostalgic...including the odd tear too...
