The Societas X Tape led me to grabbing vinyl copies of Severed Heads' City Slab Horror and Doxa Sinistra's Conveyor Belt. They did not disappoint, I'm really glad to have them in my collection.

Anyone detect similarities between the progression of "Somewhere Right Now..." & the "Picnic at Hanging Rock" theme?
I know Picnic was cited somewhere as an inspiration for BoC.

That little lull reminds me of this part of Turquoise Hexagon Sun.

I think it's Ma-a-bus hence the extra syllable, but it's entirely possible it's an edit of the "it's marvellous!" sample paultomba mentioned.

After watching that documentary (it's great, & features music more unsettling ...

The early albums completely bewitched me, but to offer a different angle, "Nothing is Real" looped itself in my head for weeks. I'd wake up with those understated muted chimes playing. I've never experienced such an effect from one of their tracks. Kinda reminds me of Suzanne Vega's Solitude ...

I've ran it through a few AI tools, & "WARP" is the most likeliest.

There's one unique track, the ident, (titled 'Warp: Warp Selections') on Warp's recent BoC-themed playlist Vernal Equinox.
Incidentally, the playlist's image is similar to a clip of the sun in the VHS.

Anyway, the unique track has an image, pasted below.

The latter half could be a play on Sex Tape, given their previous pornography references (Rodox video, a very important thought etc.)

Re: the concept of song title associations in the sequencing, don't forget that the first song on the mixtape is named 'Associations.'

Pretty old and dead thread but i think that one vocal in Telephasic Workshop says "from the street", and it is DEFINITELY a British rapper or something like that. If you slow it down by like 7 semitones you can probably hear it.

bocpages lists it as saying "twenty cent" and i think that's funny ...

I've just been watching a Dennis Nilsen doco on Netflix, & his prison recordings sound very similar to the 123456789 Telepath samples... Give it a listen.

One of his recordings also begins with the line "Ready, let's go."

Nilsen kinda plays in to BoC's sinister sampling (like Koresh), so it fits ...

Nothing is Real has birdies too, I'm not keen enough to identify the type though.

Anyway, in summary, irregardless of whether the general consensus is that Holden is wanky or that Demdike Stare would produce a suitable re-jig, the fact is (to me) that Black Dog are doing a remix for some release or another.

I don't get the burial fascination myself.

wish list remixers for me would be the haxan cloak or oneohtrix point never, or maybe even demdike stare.

I thought the odd nosdam remix was great.

Remixing BoC strikes me as a pretty pointless task when their tunes are patently not suited for the dance floor. Not heard the new Holden but The Idiots Are Winning didn't inspire confidence that he could make much of BoC. Luke Abbott would be my choice ...

Ugh *barf* that album was snooze-inducing wankery. My respect for BOC would take a nosedive if they remixed Holden, or vice versa.

I like Black Dog, & I'm assuming it's still them on remix duties based on Martin Dust's tweet, but I wished they'd gone for more contemporary artists rather than tried-&-tested Warp old guard.
