It’s a movie trailer. The music sounds like a film score. I maintain my prediction: they’re releasing a film, with listening parties in cinemas.

Other clues: movie posters, Hollywood, VHS tapes, etc.

So the tapes that were mailed are copies of copies of copies of copies of that original video.

Hollywood = the film industry.

It's not unheard of. Radiohead did audio-only listening parties in 2000 for Kid A and Amnesiac (I was there, it was incredible).
