I'm definitely a very spiritual person, but I don't fell the need to hang my hat on any particular man-made hook, I don't need a name or identifier to feel justified in what I believe. So I'm a not anything-ist, I'm just me.

I'd say I mostly agree with the quote Fujee pointed out and the idea of "I was there , man" to whichever greater or lesser degree of one-upmanship that comes in at, but personally I feel it comes down to the art of storytelling. There are some of us who can go on holiday and really spin out a good ...

Cannibal Ox - Gotham. I'm in the "The Cold Vein is untouchable" camp, but the new stuff is sounding pretty strong.

I'm gonna approach this as albums that I can genuinely listen to all the way through without even thinking about skipping a track...

Autechre - Tri Repetae
Erykah Badu - New Amerykah pt.1: 4th World War
Bark Psychosis - Codename Dustsucker
Blood Sausage - Happy Little Bullshit Boy
Boards of Canada ...

Before I even clicked the link, I remembered seeing them a few years ago (jesus, if I think on it must have been the thick end of ten) and they longed out "Do You Know How to Waltz?" and lo, I check it out and it's the same track! From reading that review I don't remember it being as full on as this ...

"All Fired Up" by The Saturdays. The lyrics (what there are of them) are abysmal, the tune is cobbled together from worn out Trance tropes and it's so over produced there's virtually no genuine dynamic to the track but in spite of all of this I can't help but like the bloody thing.

The city I was living in was the city that I had lived my 20's in (the major period of depression for me), so I had to go, it was too ripe with triggers and associations that reinforced the depression, so I moved to another city.

Did moving help you at all?

Without a doubt. In hindsight, along ...

Yeah i can dig that, the films I mention are the late 70's/ early 80's era stuff that they appear to have referenced, these guys who were doing films with a strong post-nuclear apocalypse... agenda? Doesn't feel like the right word but I'm gonna use it anyway. Stuff the brothers have said they've ...

If you listen closely to what seems to be the melodic pad at the beginning , you'll notice that the little staccato voice mentioned in this thread is not the only vocal sample in this song...listen to what this sound is saying, slowwwwlllllyyyy. ;)

What time range are you indicating?

i think ...

This is one of tracks that really stood out for me on the first couple of listens. One thing, is it me or is one of the pad sounds actually someone speaking? It's the one that starts about 22 seconds in, I can't really discern what it says but the first note really sounds like a time stretched "I ...

Yeah, I did mull over whether to put it in the general album discussion thread and if I get my hands slapped by the mod squad then fair play, but to me it felt more like a particular discussion point rather than just a chime into the whole conversation.

I'm not gonna pretend that I don't have the odd bout now and then, but my relationship with depression now is that it's a cathartic process: whenever I have a depressive episode it's to let me know that I'm moving on and shit that I've made a conscious decision to exorcise from my life is being ...

Christ, I've written and re-written this bloody post about 5 times now and it still never comes out right. It's a genuine shame that so many people on here are struggling with depression, especially as I've been there myself and can really empathise ...

Well, this is quite pleasant

Ok so, I'm a bit late to the party having only gotten round to listening to the album properly this morning. I tried to steer clear of here till I'd had a listen just for myself without too many "spoilers" but I can't pretend that I haven't read the odd bit now and then.

After a couple of spins I ...

The new Mount Kimbie. It's pretty meh.

I need to listen to the whole album again. There's some REALLY good stuff on there, and some points when they're showing real progression, but - from my first listen - it felt like there was a bit too much that felt more like 'filler' and that the album ...
