i started listening to this with only the ambient tracks and i feel like its a far better album like that to be honest. nothing against the other tracks, i just enjoy the ambient tracks more

i would say yes.
the ways they treat recorded audio is pretty much sampling, eg. recording to tape and then back out into a computer/sampler post processing. Nothing better then having an amazing synth that you can then sample

Those little 1 or 2 minute tracks could easily have been done straight ...

use samplers. you'll get better results. get some classic emulations and/or synths theyve said they own/synths theyre rumoured to own and chuck them into a sampler, mash, blend, layer, resample.
go wild but be calculated in your decisions. I've been making music for years but i still learn ...

i got an mc202, pretty similar, would like a 101 for the sequencer though.
great synths, add a sampler to the mix and you can do almost anything

after really letting this sink in im stoked on it. It again, totally unique. Another near perfect concept album. Im not the hugest fanboy on boc but i dunno how many concept albums can compete with Boards big 4.. what you guys think?
