This is just my opinion but I wouldn't think of A Is to B as B Is to C as bleak. Creepy, subliminal, yeah, but the music itself is upbeat if anything (although it can't really be measured on a scale of upbeat or downbeat). There's not a sense of desperation or depression to the track.

But, for me, "A Is to B as B Is to C" it's the creepiest track by them. I still remember the biggest feeling of fear and darkness when I listened to it for the first time...
That song gets creepier the more you know about it, too...

As good as the album is sober (as I heard it the first couple of times I listened), I can confirm that it benefits from chemical elevation.

I think this is the most nostalgic-feeling track on the album for me. The way it sounds, combined with the title, makes me remember thinking about all the big questions in life as a kid and just getting more and more lost -- but with a sense of wonder rather than terror.

I think many people who aren't initially blown away are having a hard time adjusting to the vibe of the album. IMO, this album has a different kind of scariness to it than previous ones. I don't even know if I could effectively describe my thoughts on the matter, but this album doesn't have that ...

Last night on a plane I listened to this track while dozing, in a sort of sleepy half-dream state. I must say, it was even better than being high.

The more I listen to this song the more I think it wouldn't have been out of place on Geogaddi.

The opening of Cold Earth when the drums come in (reminds me of the opening of 1969).
The fanfare at the beginning of Gemini.
The voices in Palacy Posy.
Nothing is Real -- the whole song and the oasis of optimism and bittersweet beauty.

To me it just seems a plain matter of fact that the album has as much depth and detail as their previous releases. Try listening to Gemini, Sick Times, Transmisiones Ferox, Split Your Infinities, or Nothing Is Real with headphones on and lose yourself in the puddles of sound.
