Yeah this crew of BoC fans rules. I've never uncovered anything in their tracks before and it's so fun to stumble upon an easter egg and then see all the cool other things that everyone's discovering in there! Like a bunch of them being sequences, and all this numerical stuff.

Can someone answer me why we think this is special when there are 17 tracks, and only 12 keys, and therefore guaranteed to be at least 5 key pairs? That and the RFTD/Come to Dust thing?

You're only guaranteed to have at least five key pairs if your intention is to have as much variety in keys ...

The bros have even said it themselves, and you can really hear it, especially on this record. They talk about going for a certain time period with this record and I think it's paired up with an Isham record. Maybe each of their records has been paired with an influential album from their past

Check my diagrams above for the track order. They're all at 75% speed, so they're half an octave lower, except for one or two tracks that are running at 150% speed and half an octave higher.

And it does prove that some require retuning. I suspect that the adjustment amount has significance.

K this all worked out for me because I turned the grid off in ableton, turned warping off completely and just very gently tuned them. Some of them are slightly out-of-tune with each-other, so you have to tune 'em up, and then the beats are more likely to match up. So really, doing it in Audacity's ...

how does it match up though? if you're playing the tracks in the same key simultaneously, do you start them both at the same time or is there some overlap? seems like this is on the right track of what is intended by boc, but i'm confused as to what the rationale is for where one track ends and ...

Yeah don't read into the colours that was me just quickly colouring them all so they weren't the random colours originally assigned by the software!

As for the potential for this to occur in any album... yeah, of course, if you're making sure that you have as even a distribution of key signatures ...

<3 well actually those few outliers probably belong with some of the other pairs, as harmonies, but maybe not... there's probably just two that don't go with anything else, further emphasizing the symbolism of the twins and presenting the relationship between chord and dischord, and the difference ...

You got it, Sithlord. Play "come to dust" and "reach for the dead" on top of each-other, that's another good one. The beats even match up if you do it right. Such a beautiful gift from the bros, to make a bunch of pairs of twins.

oh i think Gemini and Cold Earth go together too if you bend one of them by 2st. Palace posy turns into a dance number at +6st and I recommend the rest at -6st

look at the key signatures (sorry they're in camelot #s) - most of these songs are keyed in pairs... those that aren't are special
