A couple of observations...

The album starts in 5/8 time presumably to announce the 5th album.

Also, the golden ratio point of this album (43.16) seems to coincide when the Collapse sample starts.

Somehow Cardiacs with Tim Smith is more active than BOC.

Cardiacs announced a new double album yesterday. Their chief songwriter, Tim Smith sadly passed away in the Summer of 2020 but he is still "centre stage" on this project.

Somehow Cardiacs with Tim Smith is more active than BOC.

When they released MHTRTC in 1998, their ethos of a borrowed nostalgia aesthetic circa 1974 was a big part of their charm. That is referencing a time span of approximately 24 years prior.

It would make no sense to make great music and not release it. Why would anyone choose not to profit from it? Perhaps there is nothing great to release.

To me, 1 hour of music output in 20 years suggests a general falling out of love with something that once defined them.

And I imagine that's hard ...

Just prior to lockdown I embarked on an ambient project which I'm pleased to say is now finished. It is chilled, meditative and designed to comfort and relax. I would be really grateful if anyone would take the time to give it a listen. I'm quite proud of it.

I bought the Surfaise mp3 320 download from the bleep store a few years back. It wasn't available in any other format. About 6 months later it disappeared from "my downloads" on the bleep website.

I still don't believe no one of you guys noticed that the piano and fretless bass track around 1h37min is so obviously Julie and Candy. There is also a bassy/pitched down voice layered at parts which can clearly be heard in the live version. But what this track is really, no idea.

Check out Music & Lights and Body Talk, they were pretty big hits over here in the UK.

They definitely had a thing for this early black 80s synth-RnB pop.
