There are a few possibilities, They have said they find the hexagon a fascinating shape due to geometry and nature as you say, Also it may stem from Hexagon Sun which I personally believe refers to lens flare or bokeh from the sun, a lens flare of the sun would look hexagonal if you used a 6 bladed ...

Recently found FLX on SoundCloud. They make quite nice shit, reminds me a lot of Drukqphex but more modern in a sense. Not directly ripping him off but just having that feel. Very nice and calm or erratic. Been enjoying Ocari off GAB002 lately.
