Odd Nosdam sampling Julie and Candy?

Take a listen to the attached clip. It's part of "Untitled Track 15" on Odd Nosdam's No More Wig for Ohio.

Now, tell me that is not Julie and Candy. I don't know what part exactly (I haven't listened to the song in a while) but it's at least a doctored version of it.

This is an old thing ...

snowpepsi, your track is the one that jumped out at me on first listen, incidentally.

This volume's rather more difficult than #2 on intial listen; there is less obvious catchiness. I'm looking forward to listening through it a few times, to properly get what's going on.

Makes me wonder why crap like Solange is popular when you can make a better version so easily. :)

Amo Bishop Roden? I'm really very surprised. I'd call that their weakest track, frankly. :?

I've realised the thing I hate about BoC recently is the bass synth they use all over Geogaddi. You can hear it on Music is Math, Julie and Candy (check 5:13 there and you'll know what it is), You Could Feel The Sky, and possibly The Beach At Redpoint. It's just really irritating in its simplicity ...

I don't think the new album is the problem. It's the lack of news. They don't ever say anything; we're limited to scrounging production work and the (very) occasional remix. All we need is four words: either

"BOARDS ARE STILL ALIVE"

or

"BOARDS ARE QUITTING MUSIC"

on their site, and we'll have ...

I heard the leak. First two tracks were wonderful, the other four were okay. I'm glad Squarepusher has ditched the noodling for once; it's probably one of his most cohesive and enjoyable releases.

Okay, that's weird. I was just listening to this on Winamp, and didn't know where from.

It's not BoC-sounding though. If you were to isolate the melody that comes in like 30 seconds in and remix it you could probably make a decent fake.

THE CARETAKER

I dare say that next to this guy BoC have nothing on creepy nostalgia. Old crackly 78 samples washed in fuzz and static into ambient washes. Damn, it's frightening.

Most of his stuff is free to download; I "acquired" Persistent Repetition ...

Oh, that's cool moog-ing. We need more electronic spoken word weirdness.

I'm listening to DJ Shadow right now. Would have been awesome if I clicked here during that bit, but it was The Number Song playing, alas.

wait wait wait

the score's out now?!

I saw this film, and I loved the score immensely, but it didn't seem to be on an independent release. If it is now, I'm buying it first chance I get. Beautiful stuff.

Full agreement. And I HAVE tried. Staralfur is pretty good but the rest is ick.

Anyhow.

Super-cool: Rick Wakeman's Minimoog, Aphex Twin post-Drukqs
Cool: Venetian Snares
Uncool: Aphex Twin pre-Drukqs
Moby: Moby, The Chemical Brothers.

I used to play electronica when my mom would pick me up from work years back. There I was: "Mom! This track is really cool, you have to hear this!"... Sadly, she rarely enjoyed it and was usually pretty critical of it... hehe

I remember saying "you notice that a more diverse beat feel much ...
