Peep show is genius, I was sceptical they could keep it strong for so many series, but they did a sterling job.

Yes, it is in my opinion the best comedy on tv. Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain are great writers, they also did Fresh Meat and Armstrong worked on The Thick of It.

The last season is in production afaik

My favourite line of his is when he goes to a brainstorming meeting and he goes:

They all give him weird looks

That is fucking genius, I pissed my self laughing when I first saw it. I wonder where they got that from lol, "watch a chicken fucking a horse."

Haha yeah I love that scene, the look of bewilderment on their faces. My favourite Alan johnson line:

"Don't be alarmed Mark, it's jut Tai Chi, take a seat and I'll just power through... Should take 45 minutes... I'm done in 10. Stick that up your dojo."

Quite honestly one of the best comedy figures ever, such an astute character observation.. Sam Bain is a great writer.

Oh yeah that is one of the best scenes of the show.

Yes they are both fantastic writers. I mean, in The Thick of It, Armstrong had free reign to overtly talk about politics in the show obviously. But in Peep Show they've done it in such a subtle way, about half the humour in the show had a political undercurrent. Though one of my favourite scenes is where it becomes very overt indeed:

I'm a big fan of both British and American comedy,but I feel that a lot of people are like "oh the British stuff is better cuz its smarter and more refined yada yada pfffft"
Comedy elitism. It exists, people.
They point to Monty Python and say "there. that's when comedy became smart", without looking at any of the films by Billy Wilder or George Cukor.
I mean sure now the biggest draws in US comedy are loud mouthed man children, but don't forget, the UK has Alan Carr and Keith Lemon, both as broad as anything from the US.

the yanks do it as well as the folks in the UK. It's still witty and clever, but it comes from a different place, that's all.

Qi is fun and Fry is witty, but it isn't the height of comedy or anything. Each episode has it's moments.

I do love Black Books, no doubt.

Anyway, to be clear in case you were talking to me, I wasn't saying that we hold the rights to intellectual comedy. I was just listing scenes I love and mentioning that they fit the stereotype of witty British comedy.

my favourite comedy tends to come from britain, but i like a lot of other stuff, too. kids in the hall are canadian, btw
