now this is very irresponsible
i had a discussion with a friend of mine and he said they must have crazy computers and i told him they didnt, but we were listening to telephasic workshop at the time...notably the chopped vocals...what do you think the extent of computer usage is...i know they shy away from it from the interviews but i wanna see what you guys think and know
i remember an interview just after geogaddi had come out where they said something along the lines of 'we've gone back to punching in samples in a very crude manner. most of our last album (MHTRTC) was made using computers and we wanted to get away from that' that's not an exact qoute but it was something like that.

Hi,
if you put all the information from interviews and articles together it come's out they use quite common equipment, not very spectacular. Logic Audio on a Mac for recording, some old analog synth. But the way the do processing (the old tape machine story) and all this screwing up of sounds is very very unique.

I've got a card for the M1 with a patch on it called, "Dawn Chorus".
Unfortunately, I don't have an M1, so I can't hear it

i think the debate of their gear and what they use will never end....but the speculation is so much fun...the only way we will ever really know is if we invade hexagon sun..(i think there was a thread about that) or if they gives more info through interviews...
i like to believe that no instruments were used making their songs...
that they came from somewhere else
now we all know that can be done....
or can it...

They have said that they use only Analog effects such as Compression and Reverb. I understand the aesthetic draw of 16/24 track tape, but to not use a computer in the multitracking stage is unnecessary and truthfully inconvenient in this day and age. Pro Tools and Logic are more forgiving and don't require tons of maintenance to keep them going.
a hardware sampler usually don't have a built in sequencer. it's the computer tho.thedisavowed wrote:Well, I mean, isn't possible that they used a sampler for that? You can do crazy stuff with samplers.
