The Shins - Wincing the Night Away

Post by monochrome »

Anyone else got this cd yet? I'm assuming theres at least a few shins fans in here.

its definitely different from the other stuff of theirs that I have but I like most of it. I especially like Sleeping lessons, Black Wave, and Red Rabbits.

So whatcha think?

You know, I've tried to get into them. For some reason it just seems like there is nothing distinctive enough about them to recommend them. Granted, I haven't listened to all of their new cd, but the tracks I've heard were good but.. ultimately forgettable....

That's the problem.. they're forgettable...

The only song I thought was semi-good was that one from the Garden State Soundtrack "Caring Is Creepy", but I found myself skipping to that Frou Frou song " Let Go". I like the beat, I know it's sad. Thats the only good tune she has.

Yea I can see what you all mean, I was never really a huge fan, and I honestly didn't give too much thought to their other two cds that a friend burned for me. But I always did like New Slang and Caring is Creepy so i figured I'd pick up the new cd and I think its pretty good.

Pretty good then? I'm not a huge Shins fan myself, but I'm thinking about going to see them live just for the hell of it.

I've seen the shins live 3 times in seattle, they're great. He has a wicked set of wind pipes. He can project his voice very well and I'd recommend checking his show out for sure. The only complaint i have is their performance is TOO spot-on. It just sounds like someone popped in the actual cd and bumps their tunes really fucking loud.

The new album isn't really catching me in anyway...I'll probably let it float by just like all the other new releases that have been mediocre.
