also, more to the point, the track was intended to be played back at 33½rpm anyway.
it really does make me chuckle the amount of people who prefer their Pinky & Perky version of songs (or Chipmunk version for those outside of the UK)

Personally, I prefer Seven Forty Seven slowed down to span 24 hours, followed by a week-long Spiro looping session, played back at 1/80th the speed.
I'm actually a whale, btw.

Thank you. It took a fortnight to type that, actually. In case you're wondering how I responded so quickly, this is a pre-set response (a la Stephen Hawking) that I can trigger with a series of brief clicks.

I'd always listened to the track, albeit not that often, when taking it easy / doing bits and pieces indoors and it never quite clicked. Though never disliked it as such, only felt it was missing something beyond a wall of sound.
Well, it took a long time for the penny to drop with this one, personally - but it has.
Around this time just last month I was heading out of the UK to Spain, and took a portable player with a bunch of music thrown on before I left... Decided to give this track the first play as the flight was ascending... In a word: magnificent!
Played a handful of other music along the way, but few matched the atmosphere... Still not a day-to-day track in my personal view - but given the moment, it truly comes into its own to great effect.

not only is that post up there ^^ the best post ever..
but i was on youtube. and to be honest, i never even heard the 45rpm version of seven forty seven until now..
well anyway. i ran into this video. and i have to say. it is the best representation that i have ever seen done for boc's music. i have never been so impressed by a fan video as i am by this. absolutely perfect in every way. and the song has just become so much more deeper and mysterious to me than it ever has before. hearing it sped up like this really shows just how dark this track really is.
damn this is so well done. and so trippy!!!

dont mean to double post, but i really cant describe how impressed i am by 747
the fact that you can play it at different speeds is mind boggling. i think the 45rpm version is even more incredible than the regular verison, if thats even possible. its makes it sound even more dark and evil. and the swirling wind type sound in the background is absolutely incredible.
boc make music that is truly on another level. i very rarely come across a band where i feel as though i can have an altered consciousness from listening to their music.

Oh man, the 45 RPM version IS great! Hadn't heard it until reading all this praise.
Still can't quite pick out the 'Freddie Mercury' sample.

It's possible it's that very last chord out the entire song…..?
