I finally got my Slowdive "Soulvaki" in the mail. Soulvaki (sp?) is my favorite still, but I really haven't heard the whole album yet, so I'll reserve judgment.

Loving MBV right now too. It's still in my car's changer. Has anyone heard any of MBV's other albums? Any good?

Yeah, they're all good my man. Except for the first one "This is your Bloody Valentine". They had a different singer, and quite honestly it sucks.

Listening to them now, and it's indeed pretty good stuff. Reminds me of like, Jesus & Mary Chain, The Cranberries and Camper Van Beethoven all smushed together. Good stuff!

I just heard this and it's pretty damn good. Thanks for the heads up Milieu. To me, Slowdive will always be the rulers of 90's shoegaze though. Although it sounds more like alternative in my ears than shoegaze. "When You Feel Miserable" has been my anthem for the past couple days. Definately the standout track. 8)

Shoegazing is also part of the "alternative" scene.

Glad you liked it! I can see the differentiation there between what's more commonly known as "shoegazer" and Gold, but when I think of Slowdive, they seem more post-rock/ambient to me. When I first got Gold in 7th grade, "shoegazer" meant anything slow, droney, long and possibly loud and full of feedback. So yeah, Slowdive do definitely apply there, but I think this record wins for me because it got to me first. :)

Ok shoegazers...

I've heard Souvlaki (I own it too) & Pygmalion. What's the next Slowdive I should get?

Did you get the re-issue of Souvlaki? I would recommend that along with the re-issue of "Just For A Day" cause both of them contain bonus discs full of rareties/eps/b-sides/remixes. I bought all of them, even Pygmalion which is my least favorite but there's still some nice tracks on it.

I just started listening to Souvlaki this evening as the gf is all up in the shoegaze scene (rarely listens to anything else).

She took the privilege of adding a bunch of tracks to my iPod earlier this week.

Good stuff! (so far) :)

Yeah, I got the re-issue. I'll try just for a day next.

WWBJD... Souvlaki is good. I especially like "Melon Yellow" and "Souvlaki Space Station."
