crazy, i liked it... but i know what you are saying, making your own visions of their songs is where it is at. and being in the cold is also where its at.

lmao.. The music of B.o.C is just too sentimental to me to even care for watching the video*. Im really not one for music videos, and when I get the dvd it will probally just sit somewhere and come out for a watch on some boreing afternoon. Skyliner sounds amazing, the video is a 5.7 out of 10, i was looking forward to the whole hallucination thing. Maybe im just some electronica/downtempo fanatic who wants to see more space and less surfing. But I wouldnt want to listen to b.o.c on the beach, i want to listen to b.o.c freezing my ass off in some field smoking a cigarette. Im not satisfied with the video, I dont liek the corporate vibe of the video, and I dont need the video. The only thing close to a video that i need is the images in my mind that are remembered and felt when i listen to the music.

i have to admit, i'm starting to like it. i was very negative about it after seeing it the first time,

I've been meaning to post this for a while now. I really like the video for Dayvan Cowboy, and even though a 100% original shot vid would have been great, I'm very happy with this old footage and how it was handled.

To those that find the surfing part out of place, check out this Q&A from Nov2005 I read on Fred's site, the last sentence in particular, below. If they had made this video dark and disturbing, it would have clashed with their overall view of the album...

The first thing which stroke me while listening to “The Campfire Headphase” was the wide use of guitars. What brought you to this choice?

Marcus – Using guitars wasn't new to us. We've used all kinds of real instruments since the beginning of the band in the early 1980s. And even since we became more electronic as a band ourselves, we've always listened to guitar music, especially going back to 60s and 70s styles of music, which is what we're hinting at on this record. On the previous Boards of Canada records, there are guitars, but they're so processed that you could easily miss them, thinking they were synths. With the new album, we deliberately went for a lo-fi guitar sound on a few of the tracks because we were going for a sun-bleached, Californian summer kind of sound, it's almost reminiscent of a Joni Mitchell sound in places.

Interesting. Maybe we can see what they were going for now with the video. I think it totally suits the sound and vibe of the song and album.

I'd be interested to find out if those that don't like the video don't like TCH too, or don't like it as much as the older stuff??

I must comment as I keep meaning to say this.....but I saw this video about 10 times in watching it and showing it around to family and friends, then i left it alone until the DVD, BUT each time I hear Davyan Cowboy on my ipod or whatever, It comes to me, but not until the moment where he drops his parachute and falls into the water, its just then i realise what im listening to and i get this amazing feeling from watching the video

anyone else get this? or am i drinking too much again

I am in total agreement with you here. For reasons I cannot figure out, this video has brought new life to the song, and now it's one of my favourites on the album.

I've held off watching this more than a couple of times (also waiting for the DVD). That same splashdown moment is always when it pops into my head too. The editing is wonderful, the waves surging with the swells in the music.

Yep, I agree as well.

After watching the vid quite a few times on my ipod (on the can) It has become my favorite track as well... of course nearly every song on the album is my fav. at one point or another. The moving pictures help me visualize it better while I'm in my auto... I can feel the swaying of the balloon camera to the beat as the song starts up. I love the underwater visuals as well.

man, im sick of being thick. i clicked the ipod one and it just plays the bloody video! i want it on my computer so i can put it on my itunes and then onto my ipod. is this too much to ask? and yeah the video was good, but not mindblowing, only watched it once though. gonna wait till dvd until i make final judgement.

PS: can someone help me get this onto my ipod?

Because it recaptures that sense of wonder and awe of the world that we unfortunately seem to forget in our daily lives?

Most definitely. This is one track that you absolutely have to listen to outdoors on a sunny day. It makes all the difference.

Try right clicking the link and downloading the link to your desktop.

I love having the vid on my iPod. That and Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" are the only two music videos on there (y'know, the one with Christopher Walken dancing? Luvs it

)
