Poor poor England. They never just get put out like a normal team. There's always drama and scandal and injustice! And we will never hear the end of it.
I don't think Ronaldo will be welcomed back to Old Trafford with open arms next season.
And well done to the French. I never thought Brazil would go the full way. They just looked a bit too old and tired.

Are you guys serious? I really think Portugal deserved to win.
In fact, this game was quite similar to the one versus England back in Euro 2004.
Once again, Ricardo kicked ass.
Sorry to all the english folks but after much crap about the english press during the week preceeding the game, I really think it was a fair game.

Yeah I'm serious.
You might see the game from another perspective but I'm all for fair and straightforward football. I stated before that people who fake or strongly overdue for being hit should be bannished from the game. Well.. some players of Portugal are not playing fair imo like Figo did vs Holland and Maniche did vs England. Not only this but Portugal know more tricks to reduce the tempo of a match, think for example about the substitute trick vs Holland.
Their football qualities aren't that great tbh but they surely know how to get tempo out of a game.

No i wasn't serious! England did not deserve to go through, not just versus Portugal but because of the way they have played throughout the tournament. It would have been an absolute travesty for a team playing that badly to go on and win the WC. Look at the match vs Ecuador - they scored a goal eventually thanks to a free kick the keeper should have saved, and then swithed to a defensive formation and defended like they were playing Brazil! Against Ecuador! Portugal was the first quality team they actually met and they weren't good enough. And yet again they have a villain to blame (Ronaldo/the referee/Rooney) and not just a bad performance to admit to. Here in my part of Ireland we get mostly british papers and tv and they never stop going on about the unfairness of it every time they get put out. It gets annoying after a couple of decades. I would have been the first to cheer England on if they had been playing attractive attacking football, but they were simply negative and boring and unimaginative. And they deserve to be going home.
*/end of rant*

Hang on a min here!!!!
Portugal could have had the ball against our 10 men for 100 years and not been able to score. They couldnt cut a knife through butter last night!!
Fair enough, neither team had any clear cut chances but I feel England had the better of Portugal. They were there for the taking. They missed key players and the strikers they had didnt have a sniff all game. Maybe Ericsson opting for 451 again showed how hard it is for a striker playing upfront on his own and how possibly that is not the right tactical decision
As for playing fair, why would a player say to his team mate and colleague before kick off that he would be getting him sent off!!!! Thats fuckin rediculous. And it all came out what kind of player Ronaldo is when after the sending off he winks at his team bench and signals them to shush. What kind of sportsmanship is that. Absolutely no need for Ronaldo to sprint over to the ref and start mouthing off to him after the incident. Rooney I feel should have had a free kick before it even happened. He was more or less being dragged to the ground by 2 or 3 Portugese. He didnt get it, stayed on his feet and a plyer fell on the floor. Rooney could have gone down but didnt and ended up placing his foot onto this guys knackers who was on the floor. I dont believe there was any malice in it. It was not a stamping as such. I rekon the ref was gonna give him a yellow but then Ronaldo comes sprinting over, mouthing off so Rooney tells him to clear off with a slight shove and bang , its straight red.
Im not blaming Rooney/Ronaldo/Ref for Englands exit. We should have had the game won in normal time in all honesty. But when It came down to penalties, we didnt take them well. Simple!! Its hardly the fact that Ricardo is the saviour or did fantastic. The point is our penalties were awful. We made the same mistake as the Argies. If you opt to place the ball or side foot it then the keeper is going to have a far greater chance of saving them. If your gonna take a pen then take it. At 12 yards out you should be hitting it hard and on target. And of all people you would bargain on doin this job like that is Lampard and Gerrard. Why on earth they decided to place it I do not know. These two smash balls in from outside the box week in week out for their clubs not to mention from the spot. Lampards miss summed up his whole tournament. I was shocked at Gerrard's.
I feel we fought very hard and the passion, commitment and bravery with 10 men was fantastic. It completely overshadowed anything Portugal did in that game. But at the end of the day it came down to a lottery. Luck again wasnt on Englands side.

Well, about the game vs Holland, I wouldnt say that Holland was playing fair at all imo. In fact, they were pretty attacking pretty much, but the players instead of the game.

Well, no offense but I don't think that english football is that much better. I mean, playing the ball in the air, they might be good because they are taller and stronger. But in the end, the results speaks for themselves.

Thats how we lost the finale against Greece in 2004. Tell me it didnt work out for them.

True Holland played pretty hard in that game, also the insane attack of Boulahrouz was way too hard and he deserved a red card for it. I'm not saying Holland played fair but Portugal certainly knows how to trigger this kind of behaviour as they are very keen. Thankfully the referee in the England match knew how to handle this.
Until this WC I really respected Vigo for being very wise and above all a very good football player but after the match I really lost my respect because of his acting talent .. why do you think the audience catcalled Vigo and Ronaldo in the England match?
Like van Basten said: We were better, they were smarter.
The Portugal vs England match isn't a good graduator tbh as it was a historical match, Portugal vs England was.
And yes.. football of nowadays is more and more about these little differences as the quality of the teams become more and more equal and I'm not very happy with this kind of development. Once the FIFA decides to use a 4th official to take place in front of a TV screen to intercept this kind of unsportsmanlike behaviour football will be about football again.

In the end, isnt it curious that there are so many portuguese players in english teams and even Mourinho as the coach of Chelsea?

Mourinho is Portugese, he favours Protugese players. Hense why he brought a handful with him from Porto when he left for Chelsea. Nothing to do with English football requesting them! He brought them here as he wanted them in his setup as well as already knowing/working with them.
