I would imagine that the beeb have a copy of the whole show. You could probably access it if you have the right credentials but there's no particular reason why it should be generally available.

It would be amazing if they made all Peel shows available online for free actually. There is this project from the John Peel Centre http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-17139449 so you never know what will come out in the future.

If the information we have is correct, then the interview took place on June 16, 1998, when Peel was playing back the Grandaddy session. There was no interview on July 21, when BoC's session was played in full (which is what we have on the radio recording I posted). So if some Grandaddy fan taped the entire show on June 16, they might have recorded the complete interview.

I found a clip of the Peel interview with one of the brothers on youtube awhile back, in case anyone's interested. The video also has the whole version of XYZ.

Yeah, that's the interview version that we all have. It would be cool if someone had recorded the entire interview, though, because it's cut off at the beginning.

It's pretty amazing that a band can be recording for as long as they have, and yet there is absolutely no videos, or vocal interviews with them (besides peel).

...but isn't that by design? I mean, aren't they pretty strict on the few interviews they partake in, being conducted only via email.

Also, aside from Peel, any interviews they've done where they actually met with the interviewer, he or she had to be killed afterwards.

Haha. Yeah there is at least one interview that springs to mind, where they met the interviewer at Chamber Street Museum, and where driven to go for a pint with him.

Then there was the wire interview where they drove the interviewer back to their studio, in like North Berwick or something. There was something about one of the brothers having a kung fu book in their car

Ah yes, but both those interviews involved "going for a little drive".

The Kung Fu book in the car just happened to be open on the chapter "Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique"

As optimistic I was in the beginning, I'm starting to realise this was nothing more than him pointing out what we all hope.

This is an interview with peter serafinowicz where he briefly mentions BOC at the end.

Last morning, Peter played his Boards / Snoop Dogg mash-up followed by Aquarius, again from the Peel Session. Seemed to relish the fact that he was able to play "Ten minutes of Boards Of Canada on national radio!" - and well done to him for that

Just a thought: If this means he's cool to give 10 minutes for some BOC on the show (albeit two songs and only one official), maybe he'd be able to play just a single track of a similar total length. Something like, I don't know, 'XYZ'?

Wogan was a right laugh as usual. Pete mentioned speech synthesisers and did the bizarre "Tea-or-coffee? What-have-you-done-with-it?" line which he and Robert Popper were fascinated with - I remember they discussed it when covering Look Around You 2, good to hear it again
