No way, they're not gonna change anything about FF VII, that would make the fans so pissed off.

I have Shadow Of The Colossus on my HDD with PCSX2 ready, but I have enough new games to play so it'll have to wait...Though I've heard lots of good things about this game, so The Last Guardian surely has potential.

Final Fantasy 7: Some things should not be tampered with, but those PS1 graphics (mainly the character models) are due for an update, lol. Hopefully the story doesn't change. Never played FF7 so I kind of feel like between this, Shenmue 3 and TLG a gaming lottery has been won.

The Last Guardian: There is a lot of backlash against this game now, which to me is really bizarre considering it's over seven years old, yet finds a way to nicely merge the gameplay of SOTC and ICO and looks like a current gen game - maybe in some ways more advanced than most when you factor in the quality of the animation. His games always feel so dreamlike, expressive and alive to me, and TLG is no exception. Kinda bewildered at how it seemed like everyone was anticipating it more than any other E3 game and once the first official gameplay footage and release date were finally announced it's like, bam, lets all hit social media to unite in our love of talking about how much it sucks. Seems like you can never underestimate most gamer's ability to be perpetually dissatisfied with videogames, lol.

Don't wait. That game is still beter then anything that has come out since.

Am I the only one that doesn't get why more games aren't like that?

I can only presume it's because it's really hard to do and sadly the games industry is all about $$.

I had a lot of time for the last generation of games (The Last Of Us, Bioshock, Demon Souls, Mass Effect, Skyrim etc.) but nothing as powerful and special as Shadow Of The Colossus. I play games to be surprised and have unique experiences.

One thing before you play SOTC: Go into it with no expectations. A lot of gamers are (understandably) super passionate about that game, and then I notice a lot of people LTTP are underwhelmed because there's not a lot to do in the game compared to all the other open world fantasy games and it plays way simpler than they expected. Just go in expecting a decent game and not "the true work of art and masterpiece of all games, etc" that it's hyped up to be by the vocal hardcore fans.

That's a good point about SOTC. It's not at all obvious why it's such a treasured game when you first play it. It breaks a lot of rules of modern gaming and quite clumsily at times... but in the process it does stuff quite unlike anything else.

No Man's Sky and The Witness are very exciting upcoming titles.

So I'm super excited about the FF7 remake. FF7 is, after all, my all time favorite game. As much as the original is dear to me, I think I could accept changes in a remake. It looks like there will be many changes, according to this article: http://www.psu.com/news/27207/Final-Fan ... 97-version

I look at it this way: The original FF7 will always be available to play. If I feel like playing the untouched FF7, I'll play the original. Just because the remake is different doesn't mean we're all of a sudden without the original. Also, if you get the PC version of the original FF7, there are mods that will update the models in the game. So if you want the exact same thing, but with updated graphics models, that's already available. So I kinda welcome change, as long as it sticks to the original story without deviating too far from that.

i just hope the ff7 remake won't change how i feel about the original game by introducing some aspect that makes it seem the game would have been different if not for technical limitations or deadlines. that game is a masterpiece, awesome blocky graphics and all. you know, i don't even like the term remake; i think the term revision would make me feel better about this

I hear ya. It damn well better have the same atmosphere. I think the music plays a very important role. Uematsu did an amazing job with the soundtrack to the original. So they better draw water from that amazing well. There was no voice acting, the music was all we had to listen to, besides SFX. And I think it's safe to say, especially on this forum, that music is an atmosphere creator.

i've never been a fan of voice acting in video games for some reason. i like imagining the characters' voices.

i have a feeling they will use the same songs, but orchestrate them. i actually hope this isn't the case. i'm tired of orchestrated sound tracks. i would rather uematsu did a whole new soundtrack with synths or re-do the original soundtrack with more updated technology.

i completely agree that the most important thing for the new game to have is a comparably great atmosphere, but i think the hardest thing for them to do would be to replicate the atmosphere of the original. everything contributed to it: the gorgeous, wonky soundtrack; the stunning pre-rendered backrounds; the profound and perfectly-paced narrative; and the charmingly idiosyncratic dialogue and sprite-movement. i am almost certain they won't be able to replicate that, and i don't even really want them to. i just want them to create something with a great atmosphere that does justice to the original's.

Civilisation is too addictive. Never played it before...

You mean like what they did with Mass Effect 2? I hated that. They completely abandoned the 80s scifi feel.

Currently playing Okami HD...bah gawd this game is moving art. Played a few hours of it back in the PS2 days but got bored. Not so much now. So much more enjoyable than any 3D zelda game I've played and I enjoyed TWW and grew to like TP.

That reminds me - I never got around to finishing Okami. It's like Zelda but with the shackles removed and given the room to be its own thing. I loved it and the HD version is beautiful.

Dark Souls has been the only video game in a long time that kept my interest for longer than a few days. It's unfortunate that there aren't more games like it.

I've recently bought a Vita and I'm having a blast with it. I have so many games for it I don't know when I'll beat them. Borderlands 2, Reality Fighters, Fifa 13, Persona 4 Golden, Steins;Gate, Uncharted, Danganronpa 1&2, Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, Motorstorm RC, The Swapper, Assassin's Creed- I just don't know what to play lol. I love it despite all the negativity. I realize that not many AAA games are going to come out for it, but I'm already waiting for Sword Art Online (not a fan of the anime/manga, I'm buying it for the online elements). Anyone here also has a Vita?

Yes I have a VIta I got it last winter but im really struggling to find any games that look interesting to me. I caved in the other day and bought Persona 4 Golden as ive heard many people raving about it. Ive been playin it for 2 hours now and thinking of quitting already. It feels very thin on gameplay, it is more like an interactive anime novel, mainly you just read and press x, its a niche i suppose.

Have you tried a game called Disgaea 4 yet? It looks like a hardcore turn based strategy game, im really intrigued to buy it but will have to wait until payday or something, its over £30. Also I tried a demo of gravity rush, that seemed OK, its not really my thing at the moment but i could see how many might really like it.

Hear hear. I find it very annoying that most big games are trying to imitate Hollywood movies, and the scores are following suit. Fortunately we get some really good music from "indie" games such as Terraria and Dustforce. I'm glad to know there are lots of composers exploring interesting ground on video-game music.
