I would veer more towards wanting a new release personally just because the developments between Campfire and Harvest seemed to really be going on an interesting trajectory and I would really like to hear where they are now.

They are always making music, though, so if we were to get a Box Set of older releases/tracks, it wouldn't mean that we won't also eventually hear what they are working on currently and vice versa if they are compiling and cleaning up tracks for a box set at the moment but go for a release first.

People seem to be hungry, so here's something new to bite on, something that I've hinted at if you knew how to look at it, but let's get explicit to pass the time - they continue to subliminally hint at 2 well known double albums from bands that they are stated fans of, The Incredible String Band and Front 242, if you know how to look at it correctly.

- Let's tackle ISB first. The first hint at this was on September 12th (9/12) last year, when both their official account and Mike's, (is it real or is it not?) account tweeted within an hour of each other. The Mike one was especially innocuous, just pointing back to their official account, but this year "he" chose to quote an ISB song as the followup to that, Ducks on a Pond on 07/21. The song itself is 9:12, the song length itself matching the date from last year. I think Wikipedia says its 09:17 or something, but mine is for sure 09:12.

- Front 242's split double album, 05:22:09:12 Off and 06:21:03:11 Evil. If you've paid attention to me in the past, you know all about 05:22 and 03:11, and there's the aforementioned 09:12 too. Where's 06:21 though? Even the band's name gets involved, 2016's social media activities revolving around the number 24 and 2017's around 42. In fact, their very first tweet in this game is from 6/6 (which breaks down to 24/42)

@Flory, when i said "could have been another subject we spoke about", i meant it could have been something me and the other party were speaking about that was unrelated to BoC.

P.S, this thread seems to have dried up a bit over the last few days, as with the BoC twitter account. Where's all those crazy theories at?

It just occurred to me that on Thursday it will have been 1998 days since the release of Tomorrow's Harvest. 1998 is 3 x 666.

I'm sure nothing will happen, but it would be cool if it did, ha.

I wonder if they are struggling, like many musicians, to figure out if the album (full length and EP) format is viable and worth the time and money anymore. With physical and digital album sales continuing to decrease, bands/musicians make most of their money from touring, which BoC doesn't do. Revenue from streaming only pays a tiny fraction of what real album sales do, so it places a lot of pressure on both the artists and record companies to find ways to just to break even, forget about making a profit. Granted, BoC has a unique fanbase that is pretty adamant about purchasing every release in any/all formats available, something not many artists can claim about their respective fans, so that's good, but is it enough?

I have no idea if BoC puts much thought into what's going on in the industry and if it impacts their creative output or not, but I'm sure Warp does consider these things. Does the state of the music industry have anything to do with the long wait for new BoC? Again, I don't know, but I think it's a legitimate question.

I hope the answer is that BoC loves making albums as much as we fans enjoy buying and listening to them and that they are committed to continue on making them.

They've stated in a interview that they will continue to make music as long as possible. I don't think the current state of the music industry would impact the duo at all.

Tricky question. I don't know. Money is important, but it is not the most important thing. The most important thing is the creative power. If you don't have creative power, all the the money in the world will not help you.

Don't lose hope! I doubt the brothers are worrying too much about album sales, what with the size of the fan base and all. I'd be curious to know the vinyl sales figures for Aphex Twin's "Collapse EP," for example, but I'm sure they are healthy. The brothers have released so many amazing albums that the bar is set very, very high, and there's no way they're going to rush an album release before it's as close to perfection as possible.

here in northern minnesota, BoC became popular here mainly around the time Campfire Headphase came out, and mainly with “skater/stoner” croud... somewhere in between 2005-2007... then fast forward a few years and BoC seems to have spread quite vastly here... kids like them now and where their shirts... they are played often on the streaming radios at our coffee shops.... an hour away from me in Duluth... BoC is everywhere.... there is even a Geogaddi sticker in one of the bathroom stalls at one of the local bars....
I would say they are more popular and loved now than ever.... at least up here...

That is awesome to hear. I have been wearing my BoC shirt for years and still look forward to the day where someone stops me and tells me they love the band!

Somewhere on the opposite side of the country I'm yet to find someone who even know's what BoC is.
