Mine too, and that's what I loved about him doing that Depeche Mode video! The juxtaposition left all hardcore DM fans absolutely horrified, which is exactly what Tim and Eric do best! To top it off, DM was one of my favorite groups for years and seeing them work with Eric was a nightmare come true!

Imagine the looks on a hardcore BoC fan's face if they saw an official BoC vid with two cats making out or scary looking homeless people dancing to the music in a distraught looking way! Pure gold!

My friend ate lunch with Wareheim once. He said he was one of the tallest people he'd ever met.

Similar feelings re Peter Serafinowicz. He was interviewed in the Guardian a couple of weeks back;

"Are there any other artists that you'd like to direct a music video for?

PS: I would love to direct one for my favourite band, Boards of Canada. But if the song is good, anyone."

Considering how awesome his video for Hot Chip was, I would pay cash money to see PS do the same for BoC (and horrify people in the same way that Eric did for DM).

You don't really move on with music you love, you take it with you..

Considering how they have an amazing track record for quality releases, I can last forever if need be. I believe anyone who is impatienty looking for new material may be neglecting the fact that we already have enough quality tunes/albums of BoC's to listen to.

As if the albums aren't good enough and we needed to 'get some more'....consumption consumption CONSUMPTION >INSTANT GRATIFICATION >RAGE!!!!

That black box popped up at the height of the anger around here for the 'anonymous internet poster cried wolf' behavior of MDG. After three months it's hard to imagine that it was much more than a response to that frustration.

I think the bigger question is - how many artists historically have taken a hiatus of as long as six years and still produced music to the level of quality and inspiration of their initial genius? Sure, some have long careers but it seems like most musical flames dim after 5-10 years. What are some counter examples of musicians/bands who have equaled their original output in quality after breaks of five years or more?

There was a five year gap between NIN's The Downward Spiral and The Fragile. I think the quality wasn't affected too much, although The Fragile was a bit bloated. But the loss of 'quality' was negligible at best. Trent never ignored his fans during that 5 year stretch however. There was always something popping up here or there.

I don't really believe that the gap between BoC's last record and a potential new record will lead to a loss of quality in the music. If anything I think their new output will at least be on par with TCH. (It better well should be if took 6 years to make.) More than anything though, I wish BoC didn't choose to ignore us. It's a pretty shitty attitude to pretend your supporters don't exist and then expect them to still give a shit about you after 6 years of near silence. They must be the most introverted band on the planet.

But I will still buy that fucking record when (if) it comes out...
