this track is quite brilliant, the way the synths play across the beat of the drums so it's never quite in one time signature, and the detuned motifs that escalate up the octaves into this urgent harmonic cacophony. all in all probably the most moving track on the album for me.
i'd be interested to know from boc which jacquard is being referenced here, as it doesn't seem likely to me that they would namedrop a type of loom.

Well the loom in question was a kind of primitive computer from 1800, using punch cards.

That kind of fits their aesthetic I reckon. I hear juddering machinery in the beat, & woven patterns in the swirling synths.

I really feel strongly that Albert Jacquard's ideas are relevant to the theme of this album. I can't help thinking it's referencing him rather than the loom/fabric. At least that's what I hope.

I cringed when I first heard this track at the listening party. I hated it. I listened to it again last night, had a nightmare with Jacquard Causeway playing in the background. I woke up, and it's been on repeat ever since.

Easily the most complex layering BOC has ever done. I love this track.

That's what I think too. The theme of the album is too close to his anti-globalization/stop wrecking the world message.

It has grown on me quickly. Love the Kaini Industries-esque synths.

Also the parts that come in later remind me of the music at the beginning of this, which is great because it's from my very early childhood:

This track is just such a masterpiece... I really love the story feel, the progressions keep it from being grounded.

I mean come on man, honestly this song gives me a headache and I don't like it. I can express my opinion. Also, how can you really be positive at all without admitting the negative? Let's be realistic.

I think if the drums were more complex or intricate this song could be better, but to me it just wanders for too long. Though I do like the texture of the notes in the song...

i don't know what's going on in this track, but i do know that i really really enjoy it..i am in awe

I actually agree. I love everything about Tomorrow's Harvest except for this one. I really like the beginning few seconds, and I feel like it has potential, but I do feel like it drags on for a while, without giving me too much to really hold on too. I've already listened to the album fully quite a few times, and I still can't get into JC. Maybe soon, maybe not. There are still tracks from previous releases that I don't care for much at all, like Alpha and Omega (except the end is pretty cool), lots of the synth parts in Campfire Headphase.

I love this track. It reminds me of Palace Posy, but that is my least favorite track and this is one of my favorites. The time signatures of each track mind fucks me

I know it does not really fit with the fowards backwards thing...or even if I am just tripping balls but the end of JC reminds me of the end of New Seeds with the jingle there

i just listened to it for the first time with trusted 5 year old over-ear bose headphones and i'm feeling this to be one of the greatest tracks from boards of canada i've heard. i can't help but think of j dilla bobbing his head blissfully to this track... makes me sad and happy.

there was a bit of talk about sloppiness... do not confuse holding back on the beat for sloppiness... that's where the magic is!

I really don't understand why everyone is saying this is in 3/4 time. It's a stuttery rhythm with only three percussion hits, but the synth rhythm is a shuffled 4/4 all the way.

Mhm; I've also interpreted it as being in 4/4 time according to the synth lines, just with staggered percussion.
