God you guys are easy.

Anyway a vocal album would be stupid...would take away a lot from the music itself. Bleh.

I don't really know what to think about boc's current direction- on the one hand, the melodies are beautiful and the songs are some of the most complex and multi-layered in all their discography... but call me old-fashioned, but i'd be so happy if they bus out some phat beats and warbly synths on the new record. Or even if they continued in the organic direction, but decayed it all to fuck in a MBV-esque mess... or anynew textural direction for that matter. I'm just not feeling the new timbres they've given their stuff, and if i'm being honest that was a massive part of the appeal when I first started listening to boc.

I do expect an album this year. If you follow the pattern BoC has released their albums, it's about every 3 years, with an EP in between.

I sure hope your right. They've yet to dissapoint me.

the campfire headphase and trans canada highway were both delayed, were they not? perhaps they are being a little more careful to avoid leaks/fakes this time around?

In retrospect, the leaks of TCH left its actual release feeling like a bit of a non-event. I'd be very happy if they can keep whatever they do next completely secret until just before it comes out. Maybe a handful of listening parties in the week before release.

I loved what Radiohead did with In Rainbows. Not so much that they had the pay-what-you-like mp3 release, but more that it didn't leak and came out so soon after being announced. It felt like a proper event. Genuinely exciting, in the way that anticipated record releases used to be.
