Good idea. There was an excellent video of "Alpha and Omega" featuring the footage from the Upshot–Knothole Grable nuclear artillery test in Nevada that I enjoyed very much when I was first getting into BOC around 2009. But it's been deleted from Youtube. A pity, it was great.
I miss a video of Cold Earth with a bunch of UFOs footage. Can't find this one anymore.

Bit of an odd thing about me -- I don't think I've ever exhaustively listened to any of these unofficial releases (nor R35TT). I've considered BoC my favorite band for about 15 years. I've listened to all the official releases many, many times. I guess I've sort of been 'saving' them indefinitely. Idk, I also sometimes don't have my first meal of the day til 11pm.

Well. Never thought this would happen but here it is. Thanks to Sam for uploading them!

Wow though, crazy to me that they haven't been jumped on by Warp/HS. The talk was always that there'd never be an HQ rip because of a future official release. Guess that's dead then?

I have VideoDownloadHelper on linux which seems to work fine on Youtube videos. It's the first choice when you look for a downloader add-on. I also have AdBlocker, Privacy Badger and NoScript so my Firefox setup is quite well locked-down.

Another good one is ClipGrab which enables you to download an MP3 directly from the video, so no need to rip an MP3 file from a video file (which I do using VLC).

And for the windows users out there....

PS C:\Users\BillGatesStinkyPenis> yt-dlp "<video link>" -x --audio-format=mp3

https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

I use this all the time.

As much as I appreciate the variety of different methods to download audio from youtube, I've always been of the mindset that by default, YouTube always compresses audio to be lossy, even with quality set to 1080p, I could be wrong on that as it's been years since I've resorted to downloading anything directly off of YouTube, but uncompressed full .wavs would certainly be wonderful to have.

I have downloaded the audio using yt-dip in the meantime though and I certainly understand beggars can't be choosers. I don't want this to come off as unappreciative, because I recognize Sam could have easily told us all off and done nothing with the tapes, I'm thrilled that we have what we have right now, thank you very much for doing this!

Flac or wav would be nice, though I do believe after 200kbps most compression complaints become audio-woo. I would love to hear or see someone pick the correct formats by ear. These types of rips are never perfect, and this is top-tier imo. But yeah, the lossless copies would be nice for archival purposes.

Saw the news yesterday, maybe an hour after Old Tunes 2 posted to YouTube. Adding my gratitude and official thanks, Sam. I'll be learning to use yt-dlp later today. Will probably also record each tape onto my own cassettes -today- to mark the occasion. Enjoy, everybody.
