I have to say, I've listened to some of her stuff, and, considering it is basically American pop music it's not actually that bad comparatively so I'm kinda holding out that it might not actually be that bad. having said that I do own a copy of "The boy is mine" by Brandy and Monica...

i'm convinced that it's definitely bad.. I just want to see how bad it is.

Maybe that message was just for you...

Very interested to hear this tune now - the single is a blatant Supremes rip-off but isn't too bad on a sunny day with the windows down in the car kinda-way.

Yeah I agree, it's a catchy tune. I can't do with these people who write off anything just because it's pop music.

FYI, Solange is interviewed in this week's NME (can't find a link to the article, unfortunately), and was asked about her choice of BoC. She said something along the lines of liking to use instrumental electronic tracks, and that she's also used several Zero 7 tracks in the past. And on being allowed to use the sample (and others) - "Thankfully, Boards of Canada and Thievery Corporation thought I was cool enough".

Not much else to report, but worth a glance if you're passing a copy in Tesco.

it's wrong in the english language to put boc and lil wayne in the same sentence.

Brrr the sample didn't sound as I wanted it to sound at all :-/ Guess the full track is equally bad/good? :-/

Dreadful.

I was actually genuinely hoping it would work, but it's almost like she never even listened to the track. It just doesn't fit with STBD at all and, like somebody else said, she even sounds out of tune.

Disappointing. :(

only one minute into the full track right now... it sucks imo... her voice doesn't match the goodness of this beautiful boc track at all... gah... this is not what I expected at all :-/

it doesn't fit... neither the lyrics, neither her voice, her voice is too fsckin aggressive for this slow track.. this track is totally ruined.. what an abomination..

this bird has ruined a good song :-/ ©novayshun

What I really don't understand, is why would you go to the bother of asking to use the track in the first place when, frankly, the vocal you presumably have in mind simply bears no relation to the original tracks feeling/ambience. She could put just about anything underneath that vocal and it wouldn't matter.

Gah. Frustrating.... :x

I'm off to play the original to get this disaster out of my head.
