I can't stand on this album. It's 3 AM when the stream started. I even fell asleep few times while listening because it isn't exciting as I thought.

Maybe it will grow on me in the next few weeks. :)

Good things, Reach of the Dead, and track 3 (White Cyclosa) sound like a music for the intro of Romero's Day of the Dead.

But the whole album sounded extremly lazy, repetitive, to me, 80 % of the tracks are (bad) interluds, tons of bad synth sounds (they maybe sold their expensive synth because of the financial crisis ?).

It's like Boc wanted to pastiche themselves because of some bad critics about the TCH new sound. Classical old boc synth sound, voices saying numbers....They just add those John carpenter's sequenced synth melody style.

Or if TCH exausted them so much that they wanted to avoid the same complexcity and they just made the album in 4 month, and made every tracks on the album in one day.

Reach of the dead is the best track, and it's the only one that sound like a TCH or trans highway era unreleased track.

Jascquard causeway is a pure, too long, repetive, absurd, ugly nigthmare

The whole thing is like a new old tunes tape, but if it was their first, the most amateur one.

I'm really depressed right now.
i had many of the same thoughts as you....RFTD sounded like easily the best track, lots of filler, no real complexity, i also thought it sounded at times like some one poorly imitating boc. BUT....this was first listen on a crappy quality stream, so i'm not so concerned right now. lots of stuff i love didn't really catch my attention on first listen. and if a year from now if i'm of the same opinion then well, there's still lots of other awesome stuff out there.....and geogaddi isn't going to suddenly cease to exist.

I'd love a rip as well, I have pre-ordered the vinyl so I feel no qualms about doing so.

Sorry you didn't like it geodesic :( maybe it will grow on you. I think it's phenomenal, but maybe it's just not for you. I didn't like geogaddi until listening to it several times. I thought it was stagnant and boring. Now I don't know how I ever thought that.

Well I'm coming down off the buzz now.

That was a great way to have a first listen. Loved being in here with you all.

I'm not really an album person. I like tracks but there's always bits on albums that bore or irritate me. BoC less so and this one I think will continue that.

The texture of the sound has moved on again. No surprise there after 8 years. Seven forty seven seems like the jumping off point. Much less acoustic stuff, which I like, sort of. i like synths but theres a lot of pure synth stuff around nowadays. So, not bad just changes the palette. Digital? No, just really well produced analogue. Smoother, less rough round the edges. Hi-if not lo-fi. Transistors not tubes.

But the feeling and the music at the heart is still there, still unmistakably them. Great moments, nothing over cooked or just left to stew. Tracks progress and develop sometimes in unexpected ways.

I think this is a soundtrack. Geogaddi was a trip. TCH a road trip. This is a story perhaps. Maybe not. Maybe I'm wishing that on it.

Heavy. Very heavy in places but deep and absorbing not scary as such. Quite impersonal whilst being emotional.

I liked it.[/u]

Vraiment?

I really found White Cyclosa to be one of the few on which I didn't quite embark, the other ones, especially the first half was massive, the second half was more like an exploration of sorts and took me for a spin which I fully expect and embrace, I want to see the artist progress and move on in ways that are theirs and that's exactly what I see happening here.

However it should be noted that TCH for me was not quite as strong as their other releases, but TH is one giant mind-trip, I can't wait to have the stuff in my possession.

Possiblement qu'une second écoute pourra changer ton opinion, qui sait? ;)

I was exactly the same way! I'll never forget that one magical time it just hit me..I "got it" and loved it forevermore....

On a sadder note, I missed the entire live stream cos I was stuck in class..why, oh why must my program run through all the summer fun. :?

I hope too, but Im pretty happy honestly to see that a lot of people loved it like you, Love is a good thing on a forum :)

And yes Geogaddi is hard to be fully appreciate, but when I listened it the first time I understood the potential of this album, and I liked it a lot more than TH.

The thing that struck me most about the album was the garbled transmissions, static, distuned radio, voices you couldn't quite hear. Geogaddi was snatches of transmissions breaking through from another time. Tomorrow's Harvest is all the transmissions that didn't make it, like distress calls that went unanswered. Such a sad, bleak album. I loved it, but even after the few tracks we'd all already heard, I was unprepared for how desolate it was.

Next time I hear it'll be when it arrives either on Bleep or through my letterbox.

Mind if I had a PM link? Loved the stream, ordered the vinyl first day it was announced. I need this.
