And I Agree wholeheartedly, this track is my top and Palace Posy is toward the bottom for me, though I earnestly love them all.

There's something magical about this fuckin' track...
I hear 3/4 with motifs of synths in 4 that match up with cycles of the 3/4 metre... If that makes sense.
There's like this really deep filter on the bass hits and then this bitcrushed-to-fuck snare hit that sounds like being hitting something really hard with an aluminium baseball bat.
The synths remind me of Terry Riley or Emeralds.

This is the ultimate grower on TH, I was kinda skeptical after the first few listens but now its one of my favourites.

Spectacular track so far. I love that deep bass, reminds me of both early jungle/drum'n bass, and some darker synthwave stuff.

I totally feel it this way too. That's not my favorite from the album, I don't really like this snare they're using, but I still like how it evolves, how complex it becomes and this "suffocating" feel it has. It's just a bit too long imo.

Probably the best track on the album after giving it a few good listens through. Its very ambiguous.

i'm feeling 6/8. that is just up to how you're feeling it though... either way the song is in 3.

i could see how one could feel it in 4/4 but i think you gotta listen to what's essentially acting as the high hat. i can't even describe the sound in words but it sort of sounds like something cutting through air.

EDIT: there is almost something that acts as a high-hat that hits just after the sound i tried to describe above. this is confusing me now and i can't honestly say i'm sure of the meter... but i like it.

As others have eluded, I think rhythmically, this song is a clear standout for TH. As a music theory geek, I appreciate their seamless use of polyrhythms. Although by far not the originators of using polyrhythms in music (think 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' for starters), their elegant and stimulating use of them in this piece puts it high on my list.

polyrhythms were probably being used before western civilization was even aware of them, especially prevalent in african music. i completely agree... i can't decided the meter but its futile... no need analyze anymore... it sounds so good.

can't really hear this in the boc track (assuming you mean the first few nots of the kraftwerk track)

Yes, I mean them. It sounds sampled from there to me!

Man, was my guess that irrelevant and negligible?

Anyone who could at least make a comparison and let me know if I'm the only one clearly hearing this? I think that could be noteworthy.

after listening to the album for the first time.

jaquard causeway probably stood out the most..


i can see so many visuals with this beat. and the music is almost impossible to grasp. its all happening like clockwork. i think i can even hear a ticking clock the entire time the track plays.

Jacquard Causeway is a great track and I love its broken, off-kilter beat and baseline. It totally reminds me of tracks like these:

Heralds of Change (Hudson Mohawke & Mike Slott) "A Muse"


Kona Triangle "Shine A Light"


Dimlite "Lullaby for Gastric Ulcer"


Jacquard has great layering and rhythm. It has such a fat sound to it and makes me think of early BoC tracks that had a bit of a hip hop feel.

This track is my immediate favorite on the album. Loving everyone's descriptions! I agree that for an Autechre fan this track is a no-brainer. Reminds me of ae songs like "cloudline" where all they give you to make sense of anything is the backbeat. Also lopsided beat like "Yuop" which didn't make sense to me at first. Regardless of it coming easy, there is much to revel in here. And thankfully it's long enough to bliss-out on.

hmmm how do i say this ... i don't like it?
i really don't. listening to it right now and i kind of feel a little better when the big synth sound comes in around 4:11 but still no love. definitely getting some fleeting vibes but it never evolves into a anything for me.

i am getting a little Synergy here (An End to History?) perhaps - but without the formulaic song flow (beginning/ middle/ end). and thats actually the only thing i like about this track - its not going anywhere and not trying to please everyone ... i appreciate the work that went into it, but there's just zero emotional connection for me. i know i would feel vindicated if they came out at some point and said 'yeah we really just wanted to fuck with people for JC - we don't even like it ourselves.' but its not likely.

no matter - if i only don't care for one song on a full-length, its BOC history for me. again, best album ever.
