Be on the lookout for different albums/tracks/lengths/content as everything is released. There may be several different versions exclusive to different sources/locations. The LDLP may be a unique legnth/content. Same with this Live Trans. The 6 codes/times/album drop locations may be unique albums. The pre-orders may differ too, even differences in downloadable tracks!

Please keep your eyes open!

My Bleep MP3 DL of RFTD = 4:47
My reserva DL of RFTD = 5:18

I'd highly suggest record (but please don't leak) this full live trans. as it may be unique/special content/play time that will only be offered this time.

I'd also highly suggest joining everybody on the live listening, you will still keep your original release date plans. You will still enjoy it- the epic trans. won't ruin anything. Be positive for both.

If you MUST not listen, may I beg you all to (at the very least) to have 1 boardsofcanada.com tab open with the volume off? We should want to set record attendance! Even if it crashes the server! We should make a footprint to encourage the powers that be to take BOC more seriously and create more opportunities. Pre-oder-platinum guys!

Side note, please, please

everybody,

don't leak, post, share ANYTHING for at LEAST 3 weeks after release date! Not even the 3 tracks from LDLP. Ensure that the ony place to acquire new material is through BOC or sales alone.
Please do everything you can do to encourage sales for BOC/Warp.
If not to make BOC rich, do it to impress the powers that be, the guardians of doorways to greater future opportunities! They are watching.

So, stand up and be counted at the live trans, look for alternate versions, record everything, post/share nothing for 3 weeks after ORD. Let BOC share/leak, take the rest down.

Just my 2c. First time joining/posting. BOC changed my life 2003. Heard about TH 27th 4 AM in Las Vegas no gas for 1.5 hrs to LDLP. :( ustreamed with u :) Pawned my car audio system next day to pre-order lol. Sick Times

Love you all, my friends!
Autism, folks. Lots and lots of it.

Heh, it's all good mate... I'll be listening to the new album sitting on one of Auckland's desolate (and wild!) west coast beaches... things could be worse!

I wouldn't be surprised if they streamed it live and then posted the tracks for "on demand" streaming on their website for a little while after...it's what Animal Collective did with Centipede Hz, at least.

Seems especially likely since they've chosen the middle of the day (in the US, at least) to stream it. A lot of people will be at work, so it would be a kind gesture to keep the stream up for a little while.

I'd love that actually. Like "Hey all, this ones been in the works for a while, I hope you enjoy it"

followed by the chinks of pint glasses and a simultaneous cheers.

Agreed. I'm thinking both brothers saying in unison "hi, we're boards of Canada. Hope you enjoy the new album" in a cheesy, radio insert type way. Seriously, what if it's a special mix with all sorts of out takes and linking material? Oh man. In our dreams guys.

For the record I will listen and it will not/cannot ruin my enjoyment of something I'm sure to be listening to for years. I struggle to comprehend those determined to wait and only listen in the highest quality. Are you guys saying you'll only ever listen in perfect conditions? Or just the first time? My first vinyl listen will be special however I first hear it. I was listening to MHTRTC on cassette copy for years before I got it on cd or vinyl. Je ne regret rien.

Does vinyl really change how the record sounds?

Well, yes. All formats sound different. But so for that matter does every listening environment. The mastering for vinyl will be different to that for CD. The engineer will change the sound to optimise for vinyl. In my opinion vinyl sounds best but pedants argue about which is actually better. If there was a 96KHz 32bit version of the release it might be better. The only best there is is how BoC heard it in their studio as they mixed it down. Everything else is a necessary compromise.

Is this really a good idea being so close to the release date???

Surely, this stream will be recorded, edited, and flooding the net in a matter of hours

Who cares? It comes out in Japan literally 24 hours later - at that point, you'll have some crunchy FLACs of the real release.

It's highly likely someone is going to record the stream when it happens and upload it. So if you can't handle it anymore you could hear it after work, or just wait until you get the album. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet, I'll probably give in and listen to the stream :)

If Warp is smart they will make piracy of the initial stream pretty much pointless. Stream Monday, give us the digital download Tuesday or Wednesday (circa the Japanese release), time shipment so the physical release shows up in most peoples' mailboxes on Thursday or Friday - activate those magic preorder codes for "additional content" on the following Monday so that everyone has a little bonus to check out after soaking in the main album.

That's how I would do this.

The needle that etches the first dubplate can't cut the 90° angles of a digital waveform, so it ends up rounding off all of the peaks and edges and creating a sinusoidal, analog groove, even if the original sound was entirely digital. I was really surprised when I heard my first track on vinyl because it sounded so much warmer and more brilliant than the sounds I'd just had mastered.

awwww man. Yeah.

'course everybody's gonna describe it differently. So far, for myself, the simplest way I describe it that seems most accurate is somewhat of a DEEPER, FULLER, BASSIER feel. Ones brain can actual detect the added physical vibration of the needle on the grooves and "senses" more information.

Some LOVE those great hisses n pops tho maaaan...

...other than that I prefer flac 8)
