I love all the messed up voices in this track. Really curious where those originate, but also, it's nice to still have some mystery lol. A lot of samples were found so quickly for this album.

This track has really got under my skin. Finding myself mouthing along with the back and forth speech samples every time.

I simply don't have the words for how satisfying the placement of the bass notes is when it kicks in from 2:03.

Would love to know what's being said in all the obscured/distorted speech snippets, think I've figured a couple out but most of it's a mystery - anyone got very far with that?

This song is crazy to me, it feels like some mix of vibes and style from Geogaddi and MHTRTC, as well as some completely fresh sound.

Currently listening to my cassette for the first time! Sounds amazing.

What makes you say that? Genuinely curious. I guess you've admitted you're projecting, at least, but it doesn't seem wise to make those kinds of assumptions about people you don't know personally.

Can definitely see where you're coming from here - more than anything I'm reminded of elements of some of the unreleased/bootlegged live tracks from between those two albums, something about the production on the drums and the bass sound is really reminiscent of what they were doing in that era.

I just noticed that the first bit of garbled goodness that opens up the track is the last one we hear as it closes out, too!

Holy shit, it sure does sound similar. I watched the exorcist aged 8 (don't ask) and it fucked me up. I love how they have potentially woven a moment from it into Inferno. This album just keeps getting better.

I'm assuming the ones that show up at the 0:59, 1:29, and 3:10 marks. I wouldn't be surprised if much of the garbled/unintelligible in-between vocals were similarly sourced. Makes an eerie comparison between deprogramming a cult member and a literal exorcism.

Yeah this is why I like people finding these sources, cos knowing what choices they made making the music gives us more of an idea what the songs mean to them. And it's interesting how it lines up with what we took from listening to them

Yea, I find it helps to explain a narrative, in such a diluted way that it still keeps everything up to personal interpretation. I have a lot of fun sample hunting and decoding the plethora of hidden voices that have been all over the last 3 LPs too. That Exorcist clip is an insane find, and now I'm definitely convinced that's where it comes from. Originally I thought it was from the beginning of the documentary Sympathy For The Devil: The Process Church (https://archive.org/details/sympathy-fo ... 64-handjob, 30 seconds in), and that the guttural sound of it was just how the sample was processed, but the timbre of it is uncannily similar coming from Regan. Gives a second (third?) meaning now to the track title, with Father Merrin/Karras being central to the plot...I'd already thought that it sounded like demon evocation/possession, which thematically seems to relate to the previous track, Age Of Capricorn. Maybe they're conflating cult brainwashing/menticide with demon possession?

Side note, I can't stop thinking of the loaded term in the liner notes: "Audio Evocations". I kind of think this is a wink to the fans and the themes of the album. The term "evocation" (from the Oxford/Miriam Webster definitions) could refer to:
1. The act of bringing or recalling a feeling, memory, or image to the conscious mind.
2. The act of evoking, calling upon, or summoning a spirit, demon, deity or other supernatural agents
3. Initiation of development of a primary embryonic axis - specifically I think a chicken/lizard embryo is referred to as an evocation -- sound familiar?

Not news to anyone but it really feels as if Inferno, almost explicitly, tells some sort of story about the summoning and birth of the Antichrist. At least for part of the album.
