Dude, I've been listening to your myspace page for the last couple hours. This stuff is great!

You gotta turn the bass (the line that starts up at 1:45) up on Over My Dead Body though, it's killer as is, but with heavier bass I would crap myself listening to it from sheer enjoyment. The other bass shots throughout the song could use a boost too. It's such an awesome song.

As I said, listening to a lot of Merzbow and Black Dice, so I was into the whole rhythmic noise thing.

New track up.
Kinda a back to form for you guys who like the melody.
It took me about two months to fully complete that track.

I work sort of like BoC in that I just start a track and add onto it later until it's finished.
Half of the fragments never become anything.
this track was mainly the ping pong kinda melody at the start for a while.
Only until recently did I add everything else.
And this afternoon I put in all the effects like echo and the distortion.

So, enjoy and gimme lots of feedback plz.

I really liked it. A lot different from any of your work, but I really like the new direction. I really don't have any negative feedback for this one, keep it up.

Great song! The only thing I could suggest is to try adding one more higher pitched synth for a complementary melody. The song is amazing as is, but try it and see if it fits.

Petals is probably my favourite song you've done so far, keep it up!

wow, where did petals come from?! it's lovely! personally, i think this is exactly what i wanted you to do - create a melody, and then keep adding textures to compliment it. if i was being fussy (really fussy here) i would say the snare drum is slightly too high. seriously, you're improving with each track at the moment. keep up the good work! x

I liked petals as well, But I thought "Over My Dead Body" was genius! That was the kind of stuff I admired about Barracudi when I first it. It sounds like extreme Chiastic Slide autechre!

some strange stuff you got here..thaw would do well on a kids tv show..thats a compliment..i like petals best...the lowend overdrives a bit..

I must say I wasn't really impressed with Thaw and Petals. They where to dry. Lacked detail and whatnot. Spend more time on making sound. Thats exually the most important advice I can give. Spend more time on your songs.

Over my dead body was awesome as a demo. I really think you should work it out more. Add more stuff.

I liked the beat and the melody in Dino, but the sound for the bass didn't fit. I would have done something saw-toothed.

I just don't want to make my songs too cluttered.
I've had different mixes of the songs, particularly Petals, with more sounds and it just sound horrible.
Too many synths and pads and added percussion...
When I stripped away all of them away and let the music breathe, Petals became a much more better sounding track.
More sounds doesn't always equal good imo.
You can have sparse arrangements that have the same effect.

its not just more pads and synths. Its the little things like a small "ding!" at the end of a drum-pattern (just an example). Add more of that kinda stuff in.

I didn't like Thaw as much as the past few. You should try creating a song with less loops, and more individual melodies. Nothing overly complicated or too cluttered, but try working in little things that don't necessarily come in and out as loops. Little melodies and sounds that you hear once but never repeat.

Or try little vignettes that don't have any "time" so to speak. I'm not saying be like Boards of Canada, but things like "Plastic Bag", and "Paper Wheel" from Barramundi. Take little songs like those, add some samples and little melodies, and give it some atmosphere. Even if they aren't little vignettes, they still don't have to be standard songs with repetition all the way through. Try experimenting with the songs structure, and create some weird arrangements and progressions.

Yeah I get what you mean, but it was hard to really do anything except a normal loop song with that weird time. Sorta constrained me as I hadn't tried it before.

And Shadow, I found it funny that you commented on how Petals was taking me in a "new direction" when I, personally, think that I'm not going in anyone direction. I mean, listen to Over My Dead Body and Petals, could you ever think that they could be made by the same person?

I don't think you are either. I think some of the Barramundi and Marshmallow songs had a certain "feel" to them. Not that they all sounded the same, but they all gave similar feelings throughout the album. But like you said, recently you haven't been going in one direction, but more experimenting with different styles. What I meant to say, was that song that I liked, Petals, was one of the styles that I really liked compared to the other styles you are experimenting with.
