I love the bonus disk, the elongation really does the tracks good. IO (mons) and Tankraken are perfect. And Fol4 is probably one of the strangest audio experiences to sit through!

It seems there is some sort of new digital only Autechre EP available from iTunes Japan which contains three tracks:
IO(mons) - the same as limited ed. 2nd disc
90101-51-4 - a different version of the one included in the limited ed. 2nd disc
Blyz Castl- a new version of Bnc Castl, judging by the 30 sec clip
The problem is nobody outside Japan is allowed to buy it so we'll have to wait for a leak.
Good news, no doubt... better if we were actually talking about brand new songs, not more versions

OKAY PEOPLE
I have come to the conclusion that this is a masterpiece. It is also Autechre's most narrative album. even more so than Confield. I totally have such a visual story in my head going along to this album...it is amazing. I can't explain, but the last couple of tracks are amazing...WNSN, Chenc9, Notwo, outh9x...just pure genius.....<3 Quaristice

Now a proud owner! This disc is AWESOME. The steel gets all fingerprinty easily though.

For some reason, after time, I've begun to dislike this album.
I don't like it.
It's just not good. There's no infectious, funky grooves that Untilted and Confield were full of.

confield? infectious? funky grooves? hmmm im not sure about that... untilted is my least favorite ae album though... too repetitive and abrasive for me. i dunno man, infectious and funky are the last words i'd choose to describe those two albums. sublimit is funky for like one second.

I guess parahelic triangle is vaguely funky...
BUT.. I wouldn't list either of those as Autechre highlights. LP5, Chiastic Slide, Tri-Repetae- those are Autechre at their best imo.
Confield will forever be classed with albums like Trout Mask Replica and The Shape of Jazz to come for me.. albums I respect far more than I like.

Top 3 for sure. IO live in Toronto 2008! The last 2 records seem to capture the fluid energy of AE masterclass live ability, which is my favorite thing about them. Nothing else like it on Earth. Tankraken.
Variations is a treat. The killer stage Phylopn and fol4 is a kaboosh. A very haunting take 2. I love their skill in keeping the rhythm in a gooey mess and for fun will drop the frame right at the end so it pops. I often go "Oh shit!". Too good.

coming down off of acid. 3:00 AM. one question remains: quaristice? or quaristice versions? by the way this thread brings back memories. 2007 seems like it was so long ago.

PIcked up the vinyl of this yesterday. Dunno if it's just because I've had some time away from the album, but it sounded so much more richly detailed. Wasn't expecting that at all.

man thats what ive heard... i have the metal case edition, which is cool. but i might have to get it on LP because everyone says it sounds way better. curse my lack of money!

i can confirm - it sounds nice on vinyl
but it's weird having listened to the CD and then listening to the record - the tracks end at weird points

Untill recently I only owned Incunabula, but yesterday I bought Quaristice and Amber (cos for Warp20 they're doing those reissues of two albums togther in a box and this cost £10 but if I'd bought the albums individually then it would have cost £22!) and I can't say I'm enjoying Quaristice much at the moment unlike Amber which I fell in love with instantly

yeah, getting those two albums together is a bad idea.
the only way to appreciate autechre is chronologically. Quaristice will make sense in a few years time, maybe. you've got a LONG way to go yet
