the incredible string band, the big huge lp
severed heads, bad mood guy lp
the legendary pink dots, princess coldheart 12"
electronic, getting away with it remixes 12" of some sort
haruomi hosono, mental sports mixes 12" (never heard of em, but i bought it cuz it has a remix from the orb. from 1993 and it was 99 cents!)

I collect analog videocameras/camcorders. I have two VHS camcorders, two Video8 camcorders and one Hi8 camcorder. The Hi8 is the only one which has a functional battery, but all the cameras function well when on A/C power.

I recently got rid of four camcorders with nonfunctional viewfinders. I decided to replace them with four more that actually work, so I went on eBay. I have (had) about $50 in my PayPal account, so I bid on four different listings - two full-size VHS camcorders, a VHS-C and an S-VHS-C. I was the first bidder on each, but I expected that I would only win one of them as all analog camcorders seem to have a way of being snapped up fairly fast.

Well, that's not what happened.

I've won two thus far - the full-size VHS models - and am still the only bidder on the VHS-C and S-VHS-C listings. I might actually win them all!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go figure out how to get a lot of money in my PayPal account... FAST!

nice! I found one of the Lightning, Rain in the Pine Forest ones the other day for $1. I really like the picture of the face on the inside.

So I only have about $8 left in my PayPal account, and I need $40 in order to cover the price of everything I bid on. I didn't realize that one couldn't retract an eBay bid, or that for the first time in recorded history I would be the ONLY bidder on EVERYTHING. Yeesh. *adjusts collar, looks shifty*

Bought some new strings for my guitars a few days ago, and they came in yesterday.

I'm a happy camper.

They're a set of field recordings from the 1970's, but not the sort of Bed Bath & Beyond 'Relaxing Thunderstorm' variety. There's something very Eno about them. Some are nature sounds, some are chanting/singing, some are synth tones, or bells, etc. The fidelity of the recordings are quite incredible for their age, and the packaging is superb. Many of the gatefolds contain a plethora of information on the recording processes, including the equipment and methods used, and mission statements for each recording (ie. to ease stress, aid meditation, enhance lovemaking, reach weird psychospiritual states, arrest time, etc.) I'm really quite excited about finding such a large portion of the set (8 out of 11 discs.)

A couple of my favorites from the gatefold:

Q: What are environments, anyway?
A: Environments are not like any other phonograph discs ever released before. In essence, they are psychological sound, designed to help people do things, rather than provide them with aural entertainment. Since they are sounds, rather than music, a person can enjoy hearing them for very long periods of time, as the sounds have subtle structures which are difficult to subconciously memorize. Unlike playing a song over and over again, an Environments disc becomes more effective the more it is repeated.

Q:Are Environments "head music"?
A:Yes and no. Environments are psychologially-based sound, and this would put the series in the category of "head music," but unfortunately, "head music" today is synonymous with "trip music" and "drug music," which infers that a person can best appreciate the sound when he is "high" or "tripping," which usually isn't the case. Many of the reply cards packed with the first album were returned to us with the notation that the ocean sound was the best "natural high" the person had heard. Sound can be a powerful tool, if a person can learn to use it, instead of subjecting himself to it in a passive manner.*

These look awesome, and I imagine they sound awesome too! If you get chance (and certainly don't put yourself out on this), I'd love to get hold of any uploads you may or may not put up .
