actually it's only a slowed down version of another song I've made so not very creative but it really fits my mood tonight.

Don't think your upload worked. The file on Soundcloud is silent.

Another new one!

My plans to sort through my projects folder didn't really get off the ground but I got this Autechre-esque drum pattern in my head whilst I was out cycling...

Edit: Replaced with unmastered mix after my inept mastering job kept nagging away at me. Much happier now. :)

definitely reminiscent of Autechre's early stuff Mr Redpoint, especially tracks like Lost and Second Peng

Yeah. :)

It wasn't really a conscious influence besides the percussion but I love that Amber -> LP5 run of Autechre albums and EPs. No surprise that I'm naturally drawn to those kind of glacial synth sounds.

Their use of reverb has definitely influenced my style of production too.

at least you have a style, I'm still trying to find what mine is.

I would say that is a strength of your music! Western Station is a big step in the right direction. It feels a lot more focused than before without becoming predictable.

In my case it's also the reason why I have a number of different monickers that I record under. Bright Pylon is the solo thing with mostly hardware synths. Redpoint is/was the BoC-inspired collaboration with my mate Andy. French Curves is/was a more uptempo project with Andy. Admittedly all those boundaries blur - a lot of the French Curves stuff is built around hardware analogue synths and at least one tack is pure Redpoint.

There's also a lot of stuff that never sees the light of day. Stuff with guitars even! :)

I'm working on this little tune at the moment:

http://ge.tt/5ouP5BM/v/0

It started as a simple experiment in using a compressor more as an effect rather than a mastering tool, but it evolved into something I quite like. Not a new technique for sure, but this one uses 4 compressors in a row, which might count for something. :)
