If you're looking to experiment with mindstates and altering your chemistry, there's no reason not to. I would very much agree with this. Perhaps somewhat controversially, I would also argue that there's nothing wrong with wanting to take drugs for fun, purely recreational purposes.

As an occasional user of chems, while I don't feel that I need any of them in my life, I honestly do feel like my life has improved as a result of opening up to them. While a lot of people frown on drug usage out of ignorance, fear, or opposition of any other kind, I would not want to pass judgement on any person for wanting to explore the mind-altering spoils of this world, and I feel that people would be missing out to not experience certain things in their lifetime. I speak for myself only, however. Many people are completely content to live a life of sobriety, and I respect that.

Excess, abuse and addiction is never a good thing though. You have to find balance in your life. Be responsible, be sensible and be knowledgable about the topic of drugs at all times, because it is complex.

^ yes. Moderation is the golden rule. But I will admit moments of excess have their stories and nostalgia. But yeah whether someone's happy being sober or tripping to the nth dimension, do what feels right.

Drugs suck so much. Human beings are idiots. The human brain is fruit of millions of years of constant, restless evolution. Humans evolved to learn to walk upright, use their hands for grabbing things and developing tools, eat more and store more energy to develop the brain. Our brain is so complex that we don't even understand it very well. Not even all our technology put together and construct something as efficient as a human brain. And yet we need to "alter" it with drugs? We are such a petty, ungrateful species, aren't we?

If you're being serious, I would posit that psychoactive drugs and the evolution of the brain have gone hand in hand since the dawn of time; who is to say that it wasn't some psychedelic experience which gave an early human the insight in which abstract thinking could develop, or the space in which to connect task and tool. Humans have taken drugs for thousands of years.

I'm actually drunk this time having been up all night and through the day now, trying to sleep. Where's the post when you're drunk thread? Better question: why the fuck do we have two? It's still a high. We don't call the high a downer provides a "low" or "down", even if it's something really similar in its mechanism of action to alcohol like a benzo. It's still a high.

This is a high in that same sense. We have two threads because alcohol has its special word. Why does it have its own special word? Society is fucking stupid, what, just because one drug's been deemed "okay" that means that we no longer look at it like a drug? Illogical bullshit.
