In Dayvan Cowboy starting at 2:08 when the tune changes and then for the rest of the track, there's a shimmery texture in the background behind the guitar that for a long time I thought was just a very effected guitar. But it's actually a melodica - one of those shitty keyboards you had to blow into to play at primary school. Then run through a lot of effects. You can hear a stretched version of the same phrase at 3:25-3:26 in the Odd Nosdam Remix, it plays the whole of DC (Bit) where it's more up front, (and it was even more exposed in the deleted Raw Stems mix).

I love that one of the most beautiful sounds I've heard on one of their records was made with such a simple instrument.

Starting at around 5:30 in Alpha and Omega, there are screams in the background. Freaky.

bocpages says there's a counting sample in Corsair.

A pirate, especially a privateer of the Barbary coast - [DC], who, after the first few listens, believes he could hear a voice; a child's voice counting as in Gyroscope (most strongly at 2'11, as follows: 2'11 "one", 2'13 "two", 2'15 "three, 2'17 "four" ...), almost as a sort of faint "echo" of sunshine recorder the start of the album. (Since writing that, another correspondent has expressed agreement that there is a voice here: that it sounds like a voice vocodered with a white noise source - which would produce just such a kind of "speaking static" - and then filtered).

It's totally there and it's pretty awesome.

I just recently noticed the male singing voice that plays under the seagull sample in Happy Cycling. It doesn't really sound like he's singing in English. Blew my mind when I heard it though, can't unhear it.

In Everything You Do is a Balloon, every time the beat throws in a funky little snare drum roll, a new element is introduced into the song. I think the first thing that's added is a hi-hat choke.

Also, for some stupid reason I never could make out that the child in Sunshine Recorder is saying "An Eeeeeagle in your Miiiiind".

It's definitely not english singing in Happy cycling; it is an artefact from the original sample at c. 2:50:

In the second half of Niagara, the same "dings" that you hear in the Color of the Fire appear immediately after every time the Woman moans(?). This same "ding" can be heard at the very beginning of King of Carnival. In each song the "dings" sound different.

I had no idea that the beautiful shimmery bit in Dayvan Cowboy was a harmonica!!!
That part of the song is literally one of the most beautiful sounds they've ever made and it was made by a harmonica that's been edited! My mind is blown

I just noticed that at the end of Happy Cycling (AFOT), the last second or so has a dark synth sound after the song has completely faded out. It doesn't quite sound like it would blend into the beginning of House of Abinadab which immediately follows it, so I'm maybe thinking it's the start of a different track? Probably just hearing things, I didn't feel like it was worth starting another thread over so I just posted it here

In An Eagle in Your Mind theres some new drum samples after the I Love U sample. Theres one that sounds like someone breathing in, and if you listen in headphones, it travels from the left channel to the right channel every time it plays.

Listening to that track through my 'proper' headphones for the first time was mind-blowing for me, the percussion is just incredible.

Yes dandegy. In fact if you pay attention there appears to be a surprisingly strict narrative progression that they keep to both aesthetically and perhaps ideologically in each full album.

So I just noticed that the drum break that starts at around 1:27 in Sequoia is the same drum break that is used in kid for today at 3:00.
Did anyone else notice any reused samples?

Cold Earth sounds very similiar to Blue Calx by Aphex Twin. Familiar chords and progression. Cool
