would be so cool to read some of the letters sent between Dose and Hexagon Sun.
If you aren't familiar with any of his other work check out the first Subtle album... with Jel, Dax Pierson, musicians from the pop band Notwist. That record transcends...

great to hear new stuff from boc, good track but I miss a lot of nostalgic, sadness and kindly distorted sounds from 90-00, but still good track

Everyone is comparing this track to something from TH, but I'm just not seeing it. Sure, the synth at the beginning is reminiscent, but let's be honest, if this track had been on TH it would have stopped abruptly at 2:30 and then droned on in a noisy haze for another minute and a half. This track is exactly what I wish so many tracks on TH could have been. Sick Times being a perfect example.

Also, a few years ago when cLOUDDEAD toured the UK, they went for a pint with BoC (true fact, although I've forgotten where I read it. In a BoC interview, I think.)
That'll be it. Thanks, Fredd-E!

i think what was expressed re sound like TH was the timbres and textures of the sounds.... mot that the track itself was shaped like songs from TH

I thought of Campfire Headphase more than anything else.

I'm not sure I agree that *so* many tracks on Tomorrow's Harvest are guilty of this, but "Sick times" is definitely from the "Music is Math" school of BOC in that it puts all the best bits up front then shifts gears halfway through and ends with a less-good-but-still-interesting noodly bit that meanders towards a fade-out ("Split Your Infinities" does this too, though to a much more satisfying end.) It's definitely not my favorite BOC formula (I much prefer the "continually and ingeniously morphing into new sections" approach a la "eagle in your mind" and the meat beat manifesto remix) but I appreciate how they give us a glimpse of pleasure and then yank it away before it becomes repetitive, which is the opposite of what most other artists would do. It's not a very generous thing to do but I get it artistically.
The problem with "Sick Times" is that the opening section is SO gorgeous and SO frustratingly cut short that I almost can't even bear to listen to it. It's like how knowing that Jake Gyllenhaal dies at the end of "Brokeback Mountain" makes me never want to watch it again (sorry, spoiler alert.) And the fact that "Jacquard Causeway" is allowed to unfurl and develop itself fully without interruption makes the truncated, radio edit feel of "Sick Times" seem even more incongruous. I feel as though if it were six minutes, it would have easily been the album's best track. As it is, it feels like the track has unfinished business, and that makes it (for me at least) the sole error in judgement on an otherwise flawless album.
(And no, I don't necessarily think longer equals better. "Roygbiv" and "Nothing is Real" are exactly the length they need to be.)
To get back on topic, the Nevermen remix at least gives us some time to enjoy the lush, head-nodding groove in the second half before descending into the extended fade out / crickets outro. So instead of pulling the rug out from underneath us at 2:30 they do it at 3:37.

-Nevermen is neither Beck or God.
-The remix could have used more funk.
-Great to hear dose like this again.
-I wish I could use a boards of canada remix to market a new project. Does dose have dirty pictures of them?

That the sound used in the remix is not the same as on Tomorrow's Harvest.

Bit late to the party with this but I'm liking it very much.
I'm sure people have noticed the similarities to Split Your Infinities and Gemini? It seems too obvious for them to just regurgitate sounds from TH for cash moneys. Maybe there's more to because they're blatantly similar. Usually BOC will flip originals on their head completely when remixing so I can't see why they'd change tack this time. That said, maybe they just don't really care any more and just churned one out...

Up for pre-order as a stand alone single from Bleep:

Kudos to Ipecac Records for letting it roll like this. They easily could have tied this to some 'deluxe' package to boost sales.

The initial synth actually reminds me a lot of the synth textures in 'open the light'.
