how many grams do you intend on taking for your next experience?

I've got 3kids, so I hardly got it managed to trip one time a year.
And as you might imagine, if it comes to this happening, I want to get as much as possible out of it.
So, I usually enhance them with a temporary MAO Inhibitor (3gr. Peganum Harmala).
And this way boosted it's hard to stand more than 2grs. (which is an average to strong dose without MAOi)
These 2grs. containing about 25-30mg of overall alkaloids (Psilocin, Psilocybin & Baeocystin) but with MAOI it feels like more than 3 times this amount (which is the maximum I took without MAOI)
So I found 1.5gr with MAOI the right dosage. Not to heavy, but deep enough to get the maximum experience out of it.
With the Harmalin the trip usually tends to go in an Ayahuasca/DMT kind of experience.

I am actually planning a snake ride this weekend @ my parents place (last time was 15months ago). Surely the Sandisons go with me
The afternoon I'll do some sauna bathing and then around 21h I'll start with the Peganum sitting at the fireside...

unfortunately I was unable to go on that journey. But I am stil planning every morning that the evening would be the one.

I am very experienced with Entheogenic Plants, so there's no need for one.
But I really appreciate to have someone to trip with me. It's much more fun to do it with my wife/best friend/brother. Unfortunatelly this doesn't happen to often.

Most recent drug experiences:

- Kava Kava (fantastic.. Hawaiian.. tea.. stuff).. legal, incredibly soothing, awesome to do with friends. We had a campfire going, and is probably one of the coolest subtle highs I've ever experienced
- Salvia, some modest 7x.. the most brief of glimpse of what psychadelics must be like, most of my friends' reactions to the drug involved thinking parts of their bodies were melting, haha, a friend who smoked 50x said his experience was not enjoyable (he thought his face was melting off). I personally think I experienced some sort of ego death for the minute the drug was heavily active, which is one of the most profound things I've ever felt. After 3 trips (I later read that you build up a tolerance very quickly and repeated trips are pointless), we packed a bowl with some good weed. I've never genuinely enjoyed a night like that, the weed come-up mixed with the giddy salvia come-down, and it felt amazing.

- Lots of good weed, all the time, haha. Recently went to see Beowulf in 3D after baking out the car on the way there with some good friends.. a surpisingly enjoyable experience. The oldest story known to man, told through the 'newest' artform.

I just can't wait for summer.. my best friend and I go down to this weird park in his neighborhood that is always deserted.. it's just an open field of grass with trees. We pick a spot and bring our acoustics and just play for an hour after we smoke a joint.. the hour before the sun goes down. Fantastic.

After I've smoked bud, BoC is still the only artist that can completely put me into a trance. They're just incredible when you're in a higher state.

hexagon - yeah, i've felt that way on psychedelics. almost all the time - in fact, the one bad trip i had was when the future and past managed to get prominent in my mind. but it isn't in a euphoric way that they don't matter, usually. usually i just forget they exist altogether. the world gets a lot smaller on psychedelics, for me.

Never explicitly, but I'd say it's safe to say they've done acid. Michael said this in an interview once:

"We usually imagine our music to have a visual element while we're writing it, so we were picturing this character losing his mind at the campfire and compressing weeks of events into a few hours, in that time-stretching way that acid fucks with your perception."

That makes perfect sense to me -and I would know.

Boards on bud is absolutely incredible. Of course, so is BoC alone, but weed definitely enhances it. You notice patterns and even layers that go completely unnoticed sober.

Boards on LSD or Psilocybin...that's a whole 'nother ball game. I wouldn't be exagurrating to badly to call it like an eargasm all over your body. A religious, mystical experience of sorts. Absolutely breathtaking.

Psychedelics are very about the 'now'. Once when I was hiking with a friend of mine on mushrooms he said 'We are here, and this is now.' That was very profound to me. It was as if all of life is just an infinite string of 'now's put together to make one existence.

It's not so much that the past and future don't matter as that time is completely destroyed. I can recall having no sense of time on several occasions. I was just there. I wasn't doing anything, things were just happening to me. A minute seems like a year, and a year seems like a minute, and because of the relative nature of things, they're essentially the same thing (if you make it that way).

I hope some of that garbage made sense...

i absolutely love boards of canada on weed...i very rarely smoke these days. the layers emerge from the silence...the songs swirl around my mind where i can sit and select the melodies to create the rhythms...structure...form...its a beautiful experience.

i absolutely hate any other type of drug. at the same time, i love the experience...it's often a very intense lesson on my being...who i am, what i'm doing, where i'm going...i have realised, that i have only ever taken class a's at night...perhaps i would enjoy the experience the trip more in the sunlight - whilst roaming the acres of fields behind my house...x

It's good information to carry over to your day to day life too. Psychedelics have a lot to teach you if you're willing to admit there's a little more to it than just recreation. I guess people who don't know the feeling might get pissed off at you when you start appearing late for things though, damn society is still stuck on time being so exact.

I think the time thing is a little different on X though, especially on the comedown where I keep thinking "AW FUCK, now I gotta face the future." As opposed to the day after a trip where my thoughts are more along the lines of "well that was a nice moment, now for another not quite as fun but also valuable moment."

It's interesting how some experiences here can relate to some Buddhist teachings. I'm no expert; just started a weekly meditation class, but one thing I've learned from it, is some of the teachers (for lack of a better word, maybe guiders is better?) have said how this moment is the only one that is real: the past has been and gone and the future is yet to happen. The purpose is to become more in tune with the yourself and the world, which are one and the same, in the present moment.

I've always thought of some drugs as a shortcut to a different state of mind, and meditation as the long route. Not that it's cheating, but maybe it should be tried once to see where the long road can take you. It's all about the journey rather than the destination.

i've been reading all these stories and personal accounts on here for 8 pages now, so i figured i'd share my own experience. it's one that i've only told a few people, one that involves the desert, some boc, and a high dosage of lsd. it may sound ridiculous, but don't knock it until you try it. if you're not up for a long read, don't. it sounds like many people here on twoism have had their own incredible experiences in their own environments. this is my own...

i've only been living in yosemite for just over 6 months. beforehand, i lived and worked in moab, utah. and for anyone who's ever lived there, or traveled there, you already know. it's a desert. not like the sahara. not like the gobi. it's at higher altitude which lets it receive higher precipitation rates throughout the year. so yea, no cacti or anything--just towering stone arches, hoodoos, monoliths, and canyons running like petrified labyrinths for several hundred square miles in every direction of the town. (read "desert solitude: by edward abbey if you want to read the best book on bumming around in this wilderness). anyway, this is the location of my short story, or just about. the actual place is called "triassic", a rock climbing destination 50 miles due north. located 15 miles from the nearest person or home is one of the best known secrets in the sport. literally tens of thousands of sandstone boulders lay out these desert washes and canyons. have you ever been to a natural place, so silent, that you can close your eyes and listen hard--not to even hear a single sound but your own heartbeating? this is that place. to spare more details, i spent a weekend here in 2005 with a buddy of mine i grew up with who was visiting. he was training to be a cop. i know, fucking douche...but friends are friends. he was cool with me, and my druggish debauchery. this place has only been visited a few times by a handful of acheologists because of a local dinosaur dig. we spent the entire weekend climbing and on the last afternoon there, we came across a cave. native americans were the last inhabitants of this area, and "triassic" was very much one of their homes. this cave had a few amazing walls of petroglyphs, painted depictions of people/animals/whatever... i have seen hundreds of more famous petroglyphs left by ancient native american tribes in other areas near moab, but these had clearly never been seen before judging by the obscure location and intactness of them all. anyway, backstory, it is well know that native american culture contains a great deal of history in the use of entheogenic plants and substances. i had been fortunate enough to retain 7 hits of the finest lsd my tounge had ever tasted before my venture to this desert. i knew immediately that that night would be the night. i was drawn to one picture in particular. it was a person, very stick-figuresque, with a large spade-type heart drawn in its chest. i was fascinated that although this drawing was at least 500, perhaps thousands of years old, that they still used the same symbol for heart used today in america. (tear drop shape). as soon as i came close to the drawing, i felt an unnatural energy eminating from the figure. now i consider myself atheist and unimpressed by strange "spiritual feelings". call me a cynic, whatever. perhaps the fact that this drawing was influencing me at all was the point where these perspectives of mine changed. so, naturally, i smoked a bowl. or like maybe three. anyway, i was naturally drawn to touch the paintings (highly frowned upon--degrading skin oils and the like). i smack put my hand right down on that heart in the picture. it was intense. i really don't know how to describe it guys. granted i was high as a kite, but something changed. i knew i was eating those doses that night. so i did. time: 7:30pm, sunset. location: campsite, fire, tent. i scarfed those things down like i'd never eaten before. i knew i had about 30 mins for it to kick, so i took a hike. i looked up at the stars for a few, prepared myself for what i was about to put myself through. after twenty minutes i laid down in my tent, at least 100 yards from my friend and started up my ipod. what a glorious adventure it was. i wish i could be as thourough about my trip as i have been with the setup here. but it was just to mystical an experience to relate in words. anyone experienced enough with lsd will say the same. i apologize for lack in details here. i spent the next 8 or so hours of darkness in my tent, staring at the trillions of stars (which you may see uninhibited in a place such as this, tens of miles from the nearest electrical light source) while flying through space, sometimes unconscious i believe, and jamming to the spirit within board's music. several of those hours were spent spinning around in my sleeping bag, trying to make sense of the current moment and my past life. i without question distinctly remember a conversation that night with a wolf and a native american shaman named "rashnik" (no idea how it's spelled since it was only auditory). rashnik was sitting outside my tent for several hours talking to me about love, the history of human stuggle on this land i was on and other things...the wolf next to him was quietly laying as a dog lays, as real as the sagebrush bushes right outside the mesh of my tent. after awhile i became aware this "rashnik" was the wolf's master. the wolf (not normally indigenous to this part of utah) spoke in clear english to me about my having touched the petroglpyhs earlier that day and relayed many other messages to me much too long for the twoism forum. i woke up the next morning feeling like i had slept for a lifetime, well rested, with no immediate recollection of the night previous until later in the day when my head was more awake. it was a shame that i couldn't tell my friend of my adventures i had had, i knew he wouldn't understand. i will always hold that spot to be utmost sacred as well as the energy evoked in boc's music, especially in "olson", "eagle in your mind", and "kid for today" (tracks i definitely remember glancing on my screen).

sooo to all you who are bored, i warned you not to read this. to all you who are excited to go trip for the first time--read some articles at erowid.com (the best drug-related internet resource). it's not always fun and games and you never know what it's like 'til it's too late to stop the trip. boards and lsd have changed my life. don't call me out until you have tried it. bring an ipod, and....happy tripping.

had a similar experience about three years ago, a few friends and I camped out in a tent behind my friends house. 4gs of caps down the hatch, and boards of canada and SAWI by aphex being played on a stereo the entire night. My experience was definitely more of an ego-dissolution...most intense time of my life. I sank into the ground as i was lying in my sleeping bag and when i closed my eyes i would essentially dissolve into these aztec-like, alienesque, rapidly enfolding patterns, mostly neon green and purplish and syncing to the music. was incredible time and i can relate to you in a way.your story was an interesting read. later
