right? i'm glad someone saw that. i saw that vid over a year ago, but never went to his myspace. i'd still like to see him dance to june 9th, or maybe some poppin' and lockin' to 'trapped'?? :idea:

when i saw autechre live, skam dj rob hall played "alpha and omega"

i'd never heard boc on a dancefloor, and haven't since... badass!

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a strange place to hear them, as Autechre were probably the first people to play BoC (they got one of the original copies of Twoism).

true, but that sort of thing is quite a rarity in these parts, the dancefloors are not usually so open-minded. i've always dreamed of dropping "seeya later" into a set though and watching who goes nuts

Strangest place to hear BoC

I heard Roygbiv on a Mitchell and Webb look sketch (the cheesoid one, if anyone's at all interested). I remember that before I'd ever heard of Boards of Canada I watched that sketch and thought 'that's quite a nice song. I wonder what it's called'. Small world, really.

Hey man, Canada can't be near as bad as America... can it? I swear to god, almost every place you walk into here plays the same 20 songs over and over and over and over etc.

oh, it's the same here, my local radio station that everyone in my class listens to does that a lot. it's not very cool. some of the people in my class think i am an idiot because i listen to "weirdo music". they consider themselves superior to me (music-wise) because they listen to music you can dance to, and sing to. somebody heard me listening to quantic and said a few insults to me that i refuse to post on twoism, lulz.

lol one time in my anthro class we had a final end of the year project to do a presentation on a genre of music and of course i picked electronic music. At the end of the presentation we had to play some songs as an example, so I threw in Geogaddi (mistake on my part, I should've put in some Dayvan Cowboy or something) but I got some weird responses. The beginning of You Could Feel the Sky I got responses saying it sounded like someone passing gas....

I was pleased with the reactions :wink:

Weirdest place I've heard boc...Definitely would be the time when me and a few friends were stoned as kites and we were trying to find this party on a street we've never been to really late at night. The only thing we knew about the party was that there were lights on the outside. So we park up and scout for lights outside a house (heheh this was difficult being as stoned as we were) and find the nearest house with lights on. The door was already halfway opened so we stumble in and to our strange surprise, there was no party but 7-8 people sitting on couches with The Campfire Headphase playing! Me and another friend of mine were the only ones that knew what was playing, so I sparked up and said "Hey! you guys like boards?! Oh fuck yea!" I didn't even realize that we were in some random person house and not the party lol. Turns out they were trippin balls, so we just left. Heh, weird times.

It kind of is from my experience, but my experience has been mostly Toronto and Niagara Falls, with Niagara Falls especially catering toward the American tourist IMO. Maybe the rest is better?

Whoa, dude! Just as I read that, the song 'Roygbiv' came up on my shuffle! Small world indeed...
