My first listen of the hi-q version was on my home set: Marantz NR-1603 Receiver/Amplifier + Bowers&Wilkins 684 towers + additional powerful Monitor Audio Subwoofer.

Pure bliss! The basslines on this track are phenomenal.

It has been an amazing year for music. I've got to say I really don't mind that there's a new daft punk album to listen to while we wait for TC.

Long time lurker, and finally compelled to actually post. Does anyone else feel like Reach For The Dead has a somewhat similar vibe as The Host Of Seraphim by Dead Can Dance? Particularly the second half of the latter.

Something about the glacial chords and the chord progression really brings that song to mind. (Also that isn't a criticism in the least. The only thing I can possibly complain about with Reach For The Dead is that it ends a little abruptly for my liking...which may fit in the context of the album).

Yes, I've been listening to it steadily and wow wow wow wowwww this track is deep..noticing all kinds of unique new sounds each time! Listened to it on my main stereo setup here and really felt that bass. After I smoked a little green, I listened to it on headphones (Sennheiser HD215's) and the emotion and vibe this song gives off if incredible. I don't want to overkill it but it's going to be hard not to.

On a fun note, I'm due back in the studio at 9PM for one of my recording lab classes. Gonna test it out on a pair of these! Should sound primo

Also gonna monitor it on our trusty Yamaha NS-10's, for shits and giggles..nostalgia

All I have to say is that we are in for a real treat. If the rest of the album catapults from this song like I think it will, then it could potentially be the best BoC album to date. This is only the second track on the album. I remember first hearing OSTRE from TCH when it dropped prior to the album and liking it alot. I am in love with this track and having feeling we are in store for something very special. My two cents worth...

The synths that come in at 3:46 remind me of the feeling "Dead Sun" (Moby) gives me (45 seconds in). It's a feeling that can stop you and bring you to yr knees. Not comparing the tracks at all, just that feeling that stops you in yr tracks.

My goodness! That is tasty. Starts like a mantra and quickly escalates into some XYZ territory. Short and sweet. Poignant yet optimistic. Accessible. Very nice.

it's not something that jumped out at me when I was listening, but I can see what you mean, it's the chord progression. I think they might have mentioned being fans before, but I might be mixing it up with another band associated with gothdom.

Definitely. Great song. I could easily see the two bands working together. A BoC remix of Saltarello? I don't think my body would ever be ready for that.

I don't see or feel that optimistic vibe about it, it left Me with the definite feeling of someone contemplating a rather glum future, foreboding and poignant yes, but also on the edge of despair somewhere in there, as if you're at the end of your forces or something like that, it left Me feeling spent, but as I said earlier, I expect music to come and get Me, and it did, brilliant track.

I know on the 4ad side of things, they've admitted to being really into Cocteau Twins, who share the 'beautiful ethereal vocals' and 'beloved by goths' and the glossolalia and everything. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they were really into DCD though.

Stunning. The whole thing. Listened three times including the Japan stream and its already locked into my head. Defo getting DCD off it as well, but Tangerine Dream Stratosfear mainly - down to the album art as well with the strong landscape perspective and geometric motif. Can't be arsed to upload the cover art. Maybe the Internet pixies will do it as I'm goin to bed happy

I wouldn't mind hearing the pads without percussion and anything else on repeat for 10 minutes.

It's so much like XYZ, i feel like they must have partly re-worked it for a proper release. Still good though.

Theory: The beginning of Trans Canada Highway sounds like Campfire Headphase, and the end (excluding the Odd Nosdam Remix) begins to sound like what I'm expecting for TH. Not to mention, the name of the album is "Trans Canada" Highway.

Was Trans Canada Highway intended to be a "transition" from TCH to TH?
