*Jealous*
I sometimes fear that I'm a shallow person, or that my spirit antennae's broken off.
I've never had anything near a spiritual experience and the closest I've come was with my friends on mushrooms. Since then, almost all my psychedelic use has peaked at "this is entertaining" and ceased to be anything more - not to mention ordinary sober life, which exists as some kind of completely sub-spiritual experience for me.
I get envious reading other peoples' profound and meaningful experiences.
I want the wolf to talk to me. And that's probably why he doesn't.
But maybe it's the opposite. Maybe it's my constant insistence that I'm not sure whether there's a god or gods, or spirits or souls or an afterlife, and that I'm fairly convinced there aren't any of those things. Maybe I'm just getting what I ask for...you know?
Maybe I'm destined to be a Homeric humanist, always spiting and scorning the gods and eschewing any contact with the spiritual, surviving by my wits and charm rather than divine blessing. Maybe any official recognition by any authority is just contrary to my nature. Maybe I'm not good enough for the company of spirit guides and ancient animal wisdom, and maybe it's my place to always be looking up, sometimes in tears and pleading, other times with sneers and insults.
I don't know. It's all very frustrating.

Zeitgeist - fucking awesome tale man..i sooo want to go to a desert and trip now
Turquoise, you shouldn't worry about it as much dude, just do whatever and let what happens happen. Sooner or later you'll have a crazy-ass tripped out voyage of the spiritual kind
Er...I'm rambling due to being half-baked/hung over from E and shit..twas a good night

Zeitgeist- absolutely great story. I always wanted to trip @ a place where only nature rules.
The nearest experience I got about that was with 2,5grs Semilanceata on La Gomera, Canary Islands.
My wife and I (we're now 9yrs. together, 3kids) did it in our first vacation after a couple of months being together.
It was so unbelieveable to see this clear sky with the universe around us. And the endless Atlantic ocean. (it's always a special feeling being on an island.) So I kind of know what you experienced.
But surely I prefer natural entheogenics
At that time I didn't even know the BoCs. So, I will do it again with them...perhaps in the highlands of Teneriffa, which are also astonishing. (I climbed the Teide- 3700mtrs.)
My best wishes, lots of love, and may the force be with you.

A lot of posts from the last page talked about time distortion (or time.. not existing at all)
Perhaps the most prominent time distortion I've ever experienced was actually in the come-down of salvia divinorum and the strong onset of some potent weed.
I stepped out of my car, following my first (and thus far only) salvia trip, completely dazed by the fact that I'd just felt my ego dissolve in an instant.
Looking up at a very cold but clear October sky, pulled out my phone and dialed my closest friend to leave him the silliest voicemail possible. I rambled and rambled about the sky, the stars, the moon... the depth of strange that I'd plunged myself into from just one puff of LEGAL salvia. I got so winded from describing my experience that I ran out of things to say (this is rare? haha) so I hung up, expecting my call-timer to say something gratifying like "4:57"
It said 0:18, 18 seconds hahaha
I will never know how my mind stretched 18 seconds into 5 minutes. The kicker? He never got the voicemail.
Possibly the call ended at 0:18, and I continued like an idiot for several minutes... but I distinctly remember hitting the end-call button.

Sherbert Head and Kundalini

I've been a BoC fan long before i ever used any substances. However, I distinctly remember a very special experience on weed a couple of years ago...
I and some friends were huddled in a small, messy, dimly lit room. The group leader had recently downloaded The Campfire Headphase and we all passed around a bottle and did waterfalls as he set the music playing. I got high off my ass.. it was incredible..
Then the track "Sherbert Head" came on. All of a sudden, something amazing (and a little bit unnerving) started to happen to me. The music seemed to take control of my body. My spine straightened out from the base upward, and my arms started rising above my legs to a level and outstretched position. It felt completely amazing. It felt like this energy was pulsing through my body. With every repeat of the chord progression, a wave of literally orgasmic energy pulsed through my body, beginning at the base of my spine and traveling up to my head. This was not my imagination, something very real was happening. My whole body was trembling and my teeth felt like they were going to chatter. I could literally sense a very serpentine quality, like a snake was trying to enter me. At the time, I had no education in new age or buddhist thinking (I actually considered myself a christian), and I was convinced that a "demon" was trying to work its way into my body. It felt absolutely wonderful, but I was scared that I was going to become possessed. Now, a couple years later, I realize that it was most likely an awakening Kundalini experience.
Even nowadays when I listen to Sherbert Head, I zone out and try to connect with that same feeling...
Any similar experiences?

I felt orgasmic pulsations through my body while listening to sunrise recorder high once...
...I think its just a rush of the good stuff (endorphine, adrenalin, etc) your body makes while feeling a certain way. Weed can get you into that state...

That most likely was part of it, yeah. Still, the serpent thing gets me. Oh well, it's just weed, eh?

I had a psychedelic experience once, and all the tv's that were on had the audio coming out in reverse for me. And then I thought my dog was a vacuum cleaner. Fun times

Does anyone else here appreciate the miserable, harsh comedown from certain substances--the kind that makes you feel utterly lonely and as if there is no hope for the universe, but at the same time you find reality somehow beautiful, and actually find it musically inspiring? The kind where your soul is rent to pieces yet somehow it feels good?
Some of the greatest moments of my life have been during really bad hangovers.

I posted this in the other thread as well but boards of canada has almost always come up while tripping. I ate a small amount of very potent mushies and found myself and six other friends in a desert lying in the sand. The only thing I could do was lay there and listen to bibio and boc's campfire headphase. I couldn't have asked for better music.
That was a very powerful experience and music definitely enhanced what was going on.

the constant need to draw a connection between boards of canada and personal drug use is what makes this fan base absolutely unbearable.

I don't see it as a need but I also don't see the problem with that. What's so wrong with enjoying altered states and the moods and impressions that various stimulus like music can give, whether high or not?
The connection is established through listening to music and having an experience as a result, I can see nothing wrong with that beyond a personal bias or conflict or perhaps even fear that you might have with it.
I notice this with almost any fanbase- and perhaps I'm wrong but there's always an understated sense of pretension, and that one fan has it right while all the others don't. This is a result of my personal observations though.

People draw connections because they're highly apparent. There's a huge
psychedeli
c component to their music. If that's "unbearable" to you, I'd recommend you relax just a tad.

Not sure why a person annoyed by the connections between BoC and drug use would open a thread stating exactly that which they despise.

Personally, I didn't find BoC that compatible with drug use. Could have been I was having my mind altered by the wrong substances of course.
BoC is such solitary head music anyway that it works its magic when I'm alone and calm. That's when it all clicks and becomes almost synaesthetic for me. Any drug use has almost always been in more social situations where any music has been more uptempo or deeply ambient (think KLF Chill Out). There's too much going on (both musically and emotionally) in most of BoC's music that my altered mind can't take it in, as if there are no spaces in the music left for my head to wander and fill.
