So, I just got back from a vacation to Edinburgh. I've got family who lives up there, but this time I spent quite a bit exploring the general area. The "main event" was when, against all odds, I bumped into Boards of Canada at a grocery store just outside of town.
I told them how cool it was to meet them in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother them and ask for photos or copies of Acid Memories or Play By Numbers or Hooper Bay or anything.
Mike said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but Marcus kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” as Mike kept closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard Marcus chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw them trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen oranges in their hoodies without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Excuse me, you need to pay for those first.” At first they kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the oranges and started scanning it multiple times, Mike stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each orange and put them in a bag and started to say the price, Both of the brothers kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
I walked away very confused and never actually having gotten the chance to ask them about the pre-Twoism albums. Fuck.
Lmao, weird! FlyLo is known to do this too. It must be some kind of Warp ritual or something

Last time I saw RDJ at the store something like that happened too, except he was trying to steal random cooking utensils. I asked him what he was doing and he said "making a drum machine, duh"

It's okay, Mike & Marcus, I like the Solange tracks. Also, there's someone that used to frequently post here who had Solange as his avatar....he likes the tracks too, I suppose. THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT LIKE THEM, I PROMISE.
With that being said, I'm not particularly fond of Magic Window.

I disagree. Magic Window has the best BoC bass line. Even better than Roygbiv

Smokes Quantity is kind of annoying on MHTRTC because it flows pretty horribly on the album (just like with Turquoise Hexagon Sun on Hi Scores), but on Twoism it feels like it fits right in with the melancholy, repetitive beats and lonely synths.

Thats a good point. i really dont like the awkward off beat sound to it, but I like hearing that in other music. maybe ill give it another shot

I'll agree with Drillkicker there, I specifically said Twoism because that's where I feel it belongs. I love how 'off' and melancholic it sounds, and how the track suddenly gets a lot creepier when the surprisingly pleasant/pretty melody comes in. It doesn't sound like it should fit, but somehow it does.

Wait I'm a little confused, did you actually say something to the effect of "I don't want to be a douche and bother you guys"?
I live in Los Angeles, where there are tons of celebs of all different levels, obviously all the big ones but we have a lot of lesser-known but still notable celebs(YouTube, DJs, that sort of thing), and from what I understand from friends that are of that ilk, the response by BOC is sort of understandable. You never know how often they get barraged with random little fanboys that recognize them, even if they're an underground band,
relatively speaking.
At the same time, I'd probably be a little disappointed.

Isn't that "meething BoC" story a copypasta?

I think this was a joke, i.e. an internet mene with BoC inserted, so no need to over-analyze it : )

Here is my confession. I HATE HATE HATE Iced Cooly. It sounds like Tibetan throat singing, and makes me want to puke. However, I must admit that it gives me flashbacks to childhood, but to a time when I was sick and vomiting at an arcade. The song literally reminds me of puke.
I'm cool with Iced Cooly Beatnik though.

Huh. I thought I was the only person who thought Iced Cooly sounded like sickness.

The worst thing they've ever done is the silence beginning at 2013.

I know this will shock most people, but imo Twoism (album) by far.
50% of the album feels like prototype MHTRTC, while the other feel like tehy would fit in A Few Old Tune.
Thing is, i do like both of those era, but i just feel like they don't go well together is Twoism, making it the less coherent album the duo has made.
