Maybe they include those vignettes in other Warp Selections as well? I'm not familiar with these playlists at all. The ones uploaded on Spotify just sounds like small bumps to indicate the beginning/end of a playlist to me. Either way, very neat selection of tracks. Happy spring!

It definitely sounds like C but I reckon it's probably P. Speak and Spells are lo fi as heck

They're both still with us and the new thing is happening this year.

WARC is CRAW backwards, the Scottish for crow...make of that what ye will.

TBH, the WARC = CRAW hing is a maaaaassive stretch...but I'm Scottish and an art grad and wordplay warrior...so I'm here for it (to use the young people's speak).

Sorry if I'm being an idiot but where are people seeing the WARC stuff? The link just takes me to a playlist of old tracks...

Thanks very much, very kind.

Sounds more like 'zee' to me.

W A R Z

Edit: when you click through to the artist 'Warp Selections' on Spotify there's another 5 second track:

Interesting find. Two songs, both say WARC or WARZ, different unicode symbols at the end of each, flower and sun... no idea what they're up to, but it certainly seems like something.

EDIT: from what I can tell, the unicode character for the flower is possibly u+127804 or u+273F, the other symbol seems to be the twelve pointed star symbol, u+2739. Not sure if there's anything further to this or if I've already gone too far. If the WARC theory holds true it would certainly make sense given BoC's love of numbers stations.

It's W-A-R-P and spring related emojis.

THIS is the right answer and has been all along.
I guess in this era of post-reality, many a human cannot differentiate reality from non-reality.

OF COURSE, it makes sense that it should be ‘WARP’, but most of us can also hear that the ‘P’ is distorted in a rather ambiguous way, making it sound like a ‘C’ or perhaps a ‘Z’ even.

But this doesn’t detract from the fact that the whole playlist – the selection, the vibe – does indeed bring to mind something that a well-known Scottish duo might have put together.

Hmm... BoC is not the only musical entity that might have put something like this together. Correlation does not mean causation.
I mean, sure, keep the spirit or dream alive, but I think it is fair to say that those who are no more die hard believers also deserve a voice.

So I am calling BS on this by Warp, stopping just short of calling it a disrespectful "milking the cow' move.

I'm gonna go watch a duo of microtonal polka dotted musicians instead.

Well whether it’s nothing or something, still nice to see warp curating a mix that includes more than one boc track and even garden botanum. More so than not, this squashes any “boc and warp had a falling out” nonsense.

As for the W-A-R-C, most likely is W-A-R-P but a friend and I believe it was intended to sound like a ‘C’. This is why I (jokingly) brought up the world administrative radio conference bands. Seemed too fun to not mention.

Anyway, cool playlist and perfect for Spring. That Suzanne Ciani track is spacey+cozy.

Honestly though the speak and spell was notoriously shitty for sound quality. Here's the alphabet just unprocessed and raw listen how similar all of the letters ending with an 'ee' sound are!

You don't need much, really any processing at all or any other sounds in the background to make it sound even less distinct. And that's assuming they sampled it from a clean source in the first place. I really don't think they made it sound like anything other than W A R P intentionally.

Luckily the main attraction is not it being a P/C/X/Y/Z.

I enjoy it for what it is: a great curated spring mixtape with no less than 3 boc songs included + one sxt song and a lot of their adjacent artists. At the very least someone at Warp did their homework for this.
