They sounded like the first 30 seconds of the tracks... which is never usually a good place to get a feel for an Autechre track.

Fuck this is lush, just finished listening to the whole album. Great stuff, easily my album of the year. Luckily my Audio-Technica M50's just arrived yesterday so I was able to listen on those.

Halfway in and I'm very relieved to hear that this album is pretty accessible :)

re-phaelam-ed: I responded a few times already to your question but you never came back to the topic to read the answer...

this is definitely better than Quaristice and Oversteps.

I like that Ae are getting back to the beats in the way that they are on Exai, much punchier, less abstract with more focus on rhythm than texture and sound.

A few of the pieces remind me of classic stuff from Confield and Draft 7.30

I really like recks on, the sample is so out of place but so works at the same time.

also like their takes on dubstep and footwork which appear through out.

overall, wasn't expecting something this good, I guess that's a plus.

Spent a bit of time with the previews on Bleep... and I think I'm sitting this one out. Definitely sounds like a return to the Confield/Draft/Untilted impenetrable Ae that I never clicked with before.

I dunno. Maybe it's because I'm initially a drummer but I find arhythmic beats deeply uncomfortable. I need some groove. Gonna go listen to some Can. :)

you are exactly right!, For about 2 years I sampled Autechre tracks from itunes and just couldn't get myself to buy in to them. then a friend of mine was playing the Untitled album on his nice stereo system and to this day, they are in my top 5 favorite groups. Patience and a good stereo are the keys to figuring out Autechre.
