I can't really post anything worthwhile yet, but what do you think about Yasuaki Shimizu's "Music for commercials"? I'm curious about what people might think about this album in the AGE OF VAPORWAVE.

haha fuckin' vaporwave, can't tell if it's dead or alive.
i've been around this so called scene before it had this weird label name, way back in 2011 when vektroid released mac +, it got a lot of attention in 2012~2013 and i honestly dont know where the so-called-genre is going.

It will probably eat itself. Or something. Probably when some huge act on a major label records a vaporwave style album. Then all the cool kids will disown it :P

I really dig this kind of retro 1990 electronic music. Even if it's repetitive, I still like it! Vektroid and Laserdisc Visions are pretty good! I guess that if this genre of music becomes popular Roland MT-32 prices will rises!

if you mix the fun sugary hyperfunk of disco house and the fuzzy dreaminess of vaporwave, you get Saint Pepsi's new Hit Vibes project.

and it is INCREDIBLE.

When I were a lad 'twas all called techno, house or hardcore. There seems to be a new genre for every new song nowadays.

Never heard the term Vaporwave before but I LOVE Oneohtrix Point Never's stuff. Is it now classed as Vaporwave? Not that I care much really, good music is good music imo.

Apologies if that came across as angry. I'm not angry at all :) Just having a bit of fun. If Oneohtrix Point Never is Vapourwave, then I love Vapourwave very much. I just think the whole sub-genre thing has gone bonkers in the last few years don't you think? Maybe it's because I'm a little older than average Twoism user perhaps? Sure these genre tags make it a lot easier to search the seemingly infinite world of music for stuff of a particular style, but it still makes me laugh. Aqua-krunk, Witch House, Indietronica, Laptronica and nearly any other word combined with 'tronica' or 'step' or 'wave' it all really makes me chuckle, but in no way am I dissing any of the actual music.

Again, apologies if that sounded agro. It really wasn't meant to be :)

Do you know somewhere where cheap keyboards can be bought at their actual price? People ask crazy prices on ebay, even for toy Portasounds, let alone DX-100s, etc... last I checked Casio SK "samplers" were actually more expensive than present day groovebox samplers!

Has anyone done breakcore/footwork type cut-ups and rhythms with the same sample material as Vaporwave?
I guess there are some Blank Banshee tracks which have a juke influence. Or how chopped up stuff like Yes USB is.

I get where you're coming from. On a related note, Michael Hedges lashed out at those who branded him a New Age songwriter by joking that he was variously: "Heavy Mental", "New Edge", ""Acoustic Thrash", "Deep Tissue Gladiator Guitar" or "Savage Myth Guitar."
