Reading the article didn't please me much and I was wondering if I was being too sensitive because of my biased point of view but I do agree he had very few good points. Thought I'd just see what everyone else thought. :p

The only point I really agree with is that the kids voices samples can be a bit much. I think BoC also have felt this way which is why they have cut it down so drastically in more recent material.

i always felt hipsters latched on to anything thats trending, so in boc world i'd imagine if anything they appeared in boc worlds in the mid 2000s around TCH. a bit late hipsters.
personally i've no time for them, but hey we're all human, they're just hipsters.

In my experience, hating hipsters is the only genuine characteristic of hipsters.

The term "hipster" is cross-applied from the 1930s Beatniks. The modern hipster is a composite of individuals with a certain bohemian life situation and lifestyle. He or she rejects "mainstream" culture and embraces and contributes to independent culture, and prides him/herself on this.

Is that such a bad thing?

Didn't bother reading it all, just reeks of "look at me look at me... somebody's got a new album out that people are taking notice of, i'm going to be deliberately contrary and rain on the parade"

I got called a hipster because I said I didn't really like The Beatles. Weird.

I think the word "hipster" became a pejorative term in light of people who put their quirky and underground tastes in such high esteem to the point of obnoxiousness. But the term was quickly degraded and became meaningless, and nowadays, using the word "hipster" is kinda like a carte blanche to say whatever the hell you want, because the "anti-hipsters" will want to identify with you. In other words, I can just say "chocolate tastes like crap, and people who like it are all hipsters", it will sound bizarre, but intimidating. I mean, you don't want to be associated with those stinky hipsters, are you?

But that's all stupid, and the guy who wrote that review is just overusing the word "hipster" to conceal his utter lack of ability to write properly. I can easily sympathise with people who find the ambience of MHTRTC too much to endure if and can make their point convincingly. But when I see the phrases "BoC is for hipsters" and "the ending of Triangles and Rhombuses makes no sense!" in the same text, all hope is lost.

tl;dr: all of you are goddamn hipsters and I'm a cool guy who happens to like BOC, so I'm cool.

That's just a guy. He's not a writer, or a critic. He possibly thinks he is, but he's not.

Hmmm, overated is the wrong word. I love them. But they do attract some fanatical oddbods, I mean some of the stuff said on here is cringey *winks, wanks and walks off*

BoC will probably always be my favorite musical act, right up there will Burial, The Mars Volta, Portishead, Massive Attack, etc... That being said, I've always been a fan of any music that I listen to and enjoy simply for the sake of enjoying it. Saying that no r&b is 'good' is rather ignorant, no? Beats headphones are a highly overpriced (name brand) product, though, I would a agree with that.
Burial as an artist samples many r&b vocals to accentuate the style of music he produces. He apparently doesn't even really like r&b, but that doesn't stop him from appreciating the art. You could potentially say that many of the ideas, samples, and general tones from "Geogaddi" could scare or scar any kids listening to it (though it is my fav album and something I consider to be one of the most beautiful pieces of art I've ever witnessed.) I may be stretching this idea a bit, but I rarely feel there is any need to hate on music of any kind. I would think that BoC listeners would already be open minded enough to see it that way...
