Tomorrow's Harvest Live Stream 03.06.13
Moderators: Aesthetics, Drones, Hexagon Sun
I'm gonna listen for sure although I can see why some want to wait. I wonder if this was always planned or if it's damage control in response to the low quality recordings circulating.
Anyway, I like the idea of getting to listen to it at the same time as fans all over the world. It's kind of nice.

All of old. Nothing else ever. Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

It seems to be a growing trend now, streaming albums just before the release date. They did the same with Mount Kimbie's new album last week, so I assume they were always planning on doing this.rainier wrote:I wonder if this was always planned or if it's damage control in response to the low quality recordings circulating.
Mount Kimbie's album was streamed via NPR, wonder if this will be the same?

I too have mixed feelings about this - I have Thursday off to enjoy the album all day while I go hiking. Too late to change my plans and I don't feel like screwing around with a live stream and counting on there being enough signal strength where I'll be. I may or may not check out the stream.foxymrcroup wrote:Initial excitement replaced by growing realisation that this isn't how I want to hear TH for the first time. I'm sure plenty will tune in, but I'm going to wait. I've got plans.
I reckon this is some kind of strategic move rather merely an altruistic gesture towards the fans. Maybe they felt that the leak of the listening party recording, which is probably circulating on peer to peer networks by now, warrants a presentation of the material in high quality so as to avoid that the general public (true BoC fans not included, because these have proven to be very loyal) forms a negative opinion about TH based on this inferior recording. Moreover, a HQ CD rip is likely not to be far away since promo's appear to be in wide circulation, so they might as well present the album officially themselves in order to maintain the attention that the label and the band has been getting since the inception of this campaign rather then letting the focus of potential future customers be drawn to nondescript torrent sites. This whole thing has been thought very well through.
Borné dans sa nature, infini dans ses vœux, l'homme est un dieu tombé qui se souvient des cieux.
Will it be chaos with the traffic? thats what worries me, I dont want the transmission stopping, skipping in anyway which would hinder my first experience of the album, so I may have to duck out, like someone said hopefully those who have pre-ordered will get our digital release the same day.

Brilliant, was hoping they'd do something like this.
Sort of understand why people wouldn't want to hear it this way, but I think the quality will be decent enough and it'll be fun to know so many fans are all listening at the same time. Not so much of a purist to go and sit in a woodland fell or anything for my first listen; in my room, loud, will do just fine.

true, maybe just creating a wider marketing campaign to those who have yet to order, they have our money already, if you know what i mean.seanandcandy wrote:i don't see why they'd bother streaming it if they're gonna release it on the same dayrealspiel wrote:hopefully those who have presordered will get our digital release the same day.

Well, when they picked a release date for Japan that was 5 days ahead of the rest of the world, they knew what they were getting into. It's no coincidence that this is streaming just 24 hours ahead of the official release there. I'm sure everyone involved is just happy that it hasn't leaked yet, Cody Bieber's cell phone remix excluded. I don't think Warp cares about anyone forming a legit opinion on the album based off the audio equivalent of a cam recording made at a drive-in.Guido wrote:I reckon this is some kind of strategic move rather merely an altruistic gesture towards the fans. No way there'll be a problem. There are different ways to do it.realspiel wrote:Will it be chaos with the traffic? thats what worries me, I dont want the transmission stopping, skipping in anyway which would hinder my first experience of the album, so I may have to duck out, like someone said hopefully those who have pre-ordered will get our digital release the same day.
I'd love to see/hear a Ustream/Youtube live stream w/ some live visuals (:
