is what I'm thinking now.

We'll see what happens when I actually hear the album a few more times though. It's hard to rate it higher when it's up against such stiff competition. All their albums have been grand. Haha.

Is there a topic discussing when somebody was introduced to boc and how that influences their choice for "best album"? My point being is that somebody who was first exposed to boc in 2006 and loves Headphase is going to have a different perception of what the group is compared to somebody being first introduced at MHTRTC in 1998.

The former potentially thinking the earlier work is less accessible and the latter thinking the blokes gone soft.

Who knows?

I still don't get Geo after all this time, so far, Harvest is really sounding good, I am very impressed, looking forward to the vinyl next week

Up until now, I could never decide on a favourite BoC album, I love all of their music equally....

but, Tomorrow's Harvest is just wow. I put it ahead of the others.

Zoetrope is beautiful. I didn't realize so many people didn't like it til recently.

I started listening to boc around the time MHTRTC came out, that was my favorite of the albums for the longest time. They've all been favorites at some point though. Poor TCH only got a brief time at the top though, I still love it very much, but I didn't always.

I still kind of love Old Tunes vol 2 the most though. But to me TH is perfect, instant classic. They've outdone themselves.

Although I'm not ready, as many of you, to rank TH, I must admit I'm having a hard time getting into it. It seems pretty ambient to me, and some things even remind me of Biosphere. And Jacquard Causeway... I'm really not into that track at all.

However I have only heard it twice. It took more than a couple of listens for me to get into every BoC album so I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of time.

This will surely change a billion times, but today I'm feeling like this:

Geogaddi > The Campfire Headphase > Tomorrow's Harvest > Music Has The Right To Children

Some of Headphase's songs, like Oscar See Through Red Eye, are compositionally stronger and more accomplished IMO than the best songs on any of their other albums, but Geogaddi taken as a whole is such a wild trip with so many twists and turns that as a whole I've got to rank it first

With this said, I am really enjoying Tomorrow's Harvest and have been keeping it on heavy rotation ever since the stream.

Sorry to hear that. Jacquard Causeway seems like a love it or hate it type of song for me. It takes Rue the Whirl's slot on this album for me, in terms of it needing some time to grow on you. I feel like TH is the most immediately lovable album they've released since MHTRTC. I hope you get into it soon.

Because it ruins the feel of the most perfect EP ever?! Honestly though, it just seems out of place on the album and the other three songs are all so amazing.

Funny that you mention Rue the Whirl as it's the only track I skip when listening to MHTRTC! I kind of hope this isn't the case though. And thanks for your wishes, I'm sure I'll be into it soon enough .

Regarding Zoetrope, yes, it is generally underrated considering how gorgeous it is. I think it fits perfectly on IABPOITC.

I am unable to rank any of the albums, as they are all my favorites.

Heh, Rue the Whirl was another one I ALWAYS skipped. One day, I just let it play.. and it hit me!

i've always loved zoetrope.

I always loved Rue the Whirl especially hard on MHTRTC, and I'm really getting into Jacquard Causeway now...interesting that people's feelings for the two are so correlated. I guess I can see the similarities, but I still thought Jacquard would be getting more love. That track is mind blowingly dense and beautiful and builds perfectly. Also, the last 30 seconds with those jumpy walls of synths...seriously, it's one of the best things BoC has done IMO.

ANYWAY, back to the original topic:

MHTRTC > Tomorrow's Harvest > Geogaddi > Campfire Headphase > Twoism

I have a feeling that Geogaddi and TH are going to be shuffling spots a lot depending on my mood, though...they're both solid albums.

reach for the dead and jacquard causeway are the only one's on this album that are skippable IMO. similar to rue the whirl.

reach for the dead just doesn't sound like BOC at all and jacquard causeway sounds like a BOC imitator.

everything after jacquard is heavenly.

The different views are always interesting to read, & testament to one man's BoC meat being another's poison.

For me, after a couple of day's worth of TH listening it's:

MHTRTC / GEOGADDI / with TH & TCH coming joint third.

I'm just not a fan of the Sick Times / Collapse / Palace Posy / Split Infinities run, none of those tracks capture my attention particularly.

People seem to be less interested in seeing BoC progress as artists than they are in hearing them produce lame regurgitations of Telephasic Workshop for the remainder of their career.
