Yeah the last question and answer pretty much nailed my world view. Throw in a little Comedian (Watchmen) style nihilism undertone (as in them saying he finds the pessimism of the final track "funny") and it's perfect.

Great interview, that much: they certainly didn't spell out the themes and meanings of the album, but left a sufficient trail so we don't get lost in wacky outlandish theories (however fun they can be). It's pretty nice to see most fans here were on a pretty right track from early on. And as sad as it may be, people complaining "these songs should be longer!" are supposed to feel that way.

great interview and i know there's a few of us who noticed some tracks seemed to be cut short on purpose

i had posted somewhere that I felt come to dust was the Gemini track to RFTD and I wonder if that means track 1 is the the sister track to 17, 3 to 15, 4 to 14 etc etc

Would that make sense I wonder?

And the fact that this album has the most subliminals makes me think that this board will be hopping for quite a while

This is a great interview, exactly the stuff I wanted to know about.

I'm also pretty pleased with how much of the stuff I picked up on that I thought I was just being a wacko about, though really it's all them for being able to get those ideas across. Really interesting stuff.

I didn't expect them to be so forthcoming, but it's great to read and confirms a lot of the stuff talked about on here.

Can't wait to crack into the album to find more.

I saw someone mention last night that all the songs had "twin" on the album. Really nice catch. It's like a mirror image on either side. How are they so great? Sorry I'm being an obnoxious fan, I'm just seriously so in love with this album.

I love the album, but it's sad that the brothers feel so uncertain about the world... From my perspective, I'm a Christian, so I feel a bit more secure about the afterlife & death and whatnot. (P.S. not trying to preach to anyone, it just is relevent). The great thing about Boards of Canada's music is that it made me feel peaceful, like I was in some form of Heaven or something, so it's strange that they're atheists/nihilists, not that I have any problems with their beliefs. I really liked the interviews fromt he Campfire Headphase era, cuz they were so chill, they said that the record was just a way to chill, to escape. I'm rambling now, but yeah.

Lol and I'm right there with you, this album is bloody brilliant and is quickly becoming my favorite record

I'm listening to the album now in this order 1,17,2,16,3,15,4,14,5,13,6,12,7,11,8,10,9

And it's making a lot of sense so far. Then again I'm really high

Great interview. Can't believe I didn't pick up on that ghost effect on the front cover either. It makes you view the whole album from a different perspective.
