The only thing Fantano really loves is the sound of his own voice

I think I've only ever watched one of this eedjit's reviews, 'Does It Look Like I'm Here?' by Emeralds, which he gave 7/10. Any album that has
Now You See Me is an automatic 8/10, in my opinion... and he didn't even mention that track.
Please tell me Fantano has not become like Harry Knowles, he gets sent free tix and albums and interviews bands. He's still just some annoying twat on youtube with a lot of subscribers?

Anthony Fantano actually comes across as a really nice guy in most of his vlogs. Perhaps you could refrain from personal attacks just because you don't agree with his opinion.
Agreed.
I felt it was a good review, objective and balanced. Hell he even said Loveless was a little samey, so don't think he's just picking this record out.

Yeah, and he gave RAM what, a 9? Some people just like different kinds of music better than the others.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but everyone that is up in arms about his style of review and the review itself need to remember its subjective, as is anything music related. Personally, I quite like him as a reviewer, seems passionate and interested in giving a decent digest in a concise video.

Here is a much better review:
(I love the way he has never heard the album before or seen the Reach For The Dead video, but ad-libs "three suns" exactly when three suns appear in the video, which he isn't watching).

Don't get me wrong.
Just because I say "underwhelming" doesn't mean I think it's a bad album by any means. It's a fantastic record! It just doesn't have that same pull like the other records have. It's much more gradual, and I feel like it takes a patient listener. I guess that's what they meant when they said "inspired by Brian Eno" since his stuff is very gradual. Just wanted to share my piece.

What is New Seeds
What is Reach for the Dead
What is Come to Dust
What is Sick Times
Other than that I'll agree that most of the tracks use more predictable note progressions or drones rather than being based around a strong melody but it's unfair to say that they're not there. Honestly, I do agree with a few of your points here, but maybe I have a different idea of what constitutes a melody. The album has less standout tracks than past albums and overall it's definitely not their best but I think it's quite rewarding all the same and I'm very happy with it.

when I say melody I mean something I can hum and people will recognise the tune (providing they've listened to the album), something I can whistle on my way home from class, etc.
call me fucking superficial but hey, I don't think this album is as melodic (in my sense of the term) as previous BoC works. I can whistle Turquoise Hexagon Sun, but I cannae hum Sick Times.
I still like it, I just needed to find another way in.
whether you like the record or not you CANNOT tell me that the brothers are past writing tunes which appear in tracks like Everything You Do is a Balloon. That's just not them any more.

perhaps this gentleman reviewing the album hasn't read the recent interviews with the brothers. he seems not to like things on the album that were specifically meant to be there and differentiate it from past releases. it looks like hes looking for them to sound exactly like they used to on past LPs and doesnt quite grasp the true concept of Tomorrow's Harvest.

I personally love Tomorrow's Harvest but I think he stated his case very well and detailed exactly why he didn't like it so much. I'm not gonna be pissed off just because he has a different opinion, plus it seems like he loves all their other albums.
I think this is the most negative TH review right? And since it's still 6/10 that's pretty good.

the way people are acting are disgusting, no wonder they make fun of us over at WATMM.
I thought we were a community of peaceful and accepting people, apparently just not of people that think differently to us.

I've been humming the tune in Palace Posy all morning. Yesterday the chimes from White Cyclosa in my head. I'd say this record actually has as much melody as the previous 3 albums but does also have some more dark atmospheric droney bits which i also love which possible makes the overall album seem less tuneful. I don't think BoC are all about melody at all.
But anyway, each to their own opinion, anything which is a challenging listen and pushes boundaries is gonna divide opinion. Happy to hear all sides.
