Again, I'm not totally hating on the record. MIDAS TOUCH is just a little strange to hear when you are expecting the usual BOC sound.
I was hoping this thread would be a funny story introduction to the forum, like there might be someone else out there who heard MIDAS TOUCH for the first time, not knowing what the album was about, and like me was taken aback a little. I didn't realize I was going to get blasted for it. Sorry guys, again, i come in peace.

I know what you mean. You definitely have to let some of the remixes grow on you before they really click. I love Midas though, and the Old Tunes version of Trapped is fucking great.

You're not being blasted, just people expressing their love for the song!

Haha no worries man. I think that tune is just near and dear to a lot of people on the forum, myself included, hence the reaction.
In regards to the "usual BOC sound", I think the boys have proven time and again that you never know what to expect from them, and this tune as well as the Trapped remix are great examples of some of their earlier experimentation & sound. Also just a heads up, they were originally released under the Hell Interface moniker, and not as Boards of Canada tracks.
In any case, welcome to the forum and enjoy the tunes. You've got a great (and somewhat rare) record on your hands.

amoeba records in hollywood usually has 2 copies of this in their BoC section everytime i go there and look. I got one the other week and I really like it. Midas touch is super odd but still boc and still great. I think I like it better than korona even. The Trapped remixes are OK but the main event is Midas Touch/Korona
